As part of the obstetrical and pediatric service Blake 13 cares for Postpartum women. The unit also has a nursery for newborns that meet level I or level II criteria as determined by DPH regulation and medical evaluation.
The patient care delivery model is Family Centered Care with an emphasis on moms and babies rooming in together to enhance the bonding experience.
The staff is committed to providing highly skilled, high quality family centered care to the newborn babies and families.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.Current CNA certificate for Massachusetts and previous experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
HS diploma or equivalent.
Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.
Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.
