The Department of Genetic Counseling in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston is seeking a 0.20 FTE faculty member to start July 1, 2023.
The faculty member is primarily responsible for coordinating all components of the student experience in Pediatrics fieldwork within Mass General Hospital (MGH) in order for students to meet case requirements in accordance with ACGC (Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling) requirements. Additionally, teaching opportunities within the GC603: Pediatric and Adult Genetic Counseling course, including serving as faculty for the Standardized Patient curriculum within this course, is anticipated. Other teaching opportunities are available.
In collaboration with other faculty, responsibilities also include enhancing and evaluating student standardized patient experiences, curriculum development, student recruitment, and the admissions process. Additional roles include serving as a Capstone research advisor. The successful applicant will also be expected to take part in scholarly and professional activities.
Strong preference will be given to candidates within Mass General Brigham who are already supervising students for clinical fieldwork and are well-positioned to serve as the fieldwork liaison to the M.S. Genetic Counseling Program, coordinating all components for students to meet case requirements to meet ACGC requirements. Specifically, there is only one Pediatric Genetics fieldwork site within MGB (at MGH), so there is a strong preference for a genetic counselor already employed by this Medical Genetics department.Education
