Job Summary: The Pharmacy Technician-Two (2) Inpatient assists in all aspects of drug distribution within the scope of responsibility. Maintains records and computer data related to patients and medications. Functions in accordance with pharmacy law and written guidelines of the pharmacy department. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma and Associate’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology or completed a course of training specified by the Board required. Minimum one year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to write legibly speak; assemble, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment and perform technical age-specific patient care activities as required; use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Able to communicate effectively, and professionally with others, be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, collaborate with others; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone; perform basic math functions essential to position; think critically; organize and prioritize workload; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure, problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; document legibly; use computer for essential job duties. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: California Pharmacy Technician license required. Certified Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required.
