Job Description Summary
This position is located on campus in Lynchburg, VA. The Residential Gate Coordinator will manage the SOE front desk and serve as the department receptionist and oversee and manage the Gate placement process for the residential initial licensure requirements. This includes reviewing gate applications, building and maintaining relationships with local school systems, and assist with managing placement data. The Gate Coordinator will present Gate/program requirements in residential education classes and also assist students via email and phone with their questions about the gate placement process. The Gate Coordinator will communicate with other offices within School of Education and university departments to ensure consistent communication and support for students.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Front desk coordination, assist students, faculty, and guests.
2. Manage practicum and placement data for students.
3. Review and process initial licensure gate applications.
4. Manage gate courses.
5. Answer student emails and phone calls regarding gate courses and applications.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, administrative experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Acceptance to a graduate program and 2-4 years’ administrative experience in higher education preferred.
Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent computer and organizational skills. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
