Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is searching for an additional neurologist/epileptologist with expertise in medical directorship of an epilepsy surgery program or leadership of an epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) to join our three current epilepsy neurologists in our busy academic practice. LVHN has been recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a Level 3 Epilepsy Center since 2010 and is actively working towards a Level 4 designation as a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. The Center’s multidisciplinary team includes neurologists with fellowship training in epilepsy, a fellowship trained functional neurosurgeon, neuropsychologists, social worker, and epilepsy-experienced advanced practice professionals and nursing staff. Our active Epilepsy Center at LVHN has evolved in the recent years and has been recognized as a regional referral center for the diagnosis and management of epilepsy across its spectrum.
A leadership position as either medical director of our epilepsy surgery program or directorship of the EMU is possible depending on qualifications and specific interests.
LVHN has a four-bed dedicated 24/7 EMU and performs long term video EEG monitoring (LTME). Our 14 bed neurointensive care unit has complete LTME capability. Onsite and remote review is available throughout the network. Our neurologists provide EEG reading services to our other facilities within our extensive regional network, and read over 8,000 studies a year, including 1,300 long-term monitoring studies
The LVHN EEG lab is American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) accredited and has developed an on-site EEG technologists training program. This program is recognized as an educational program through ABRET and upon completion, trainees are eligible for EEG registration. Staff includes an EEG certified Lab Manager, EEG certified Lab Educator, and a large team of certified EEG Technologists.
Neurology at LVHN has experienced significant growth and development during the last several years, and has grown to over 35 neurologists, over 20 advanced care providers, our ACGME-accredited neurology residency program, ACGME-accredited clinical neurophysiology fellowship, ACGME-accredited neurocritical care fellowship, and ACGME-accredited vascular neurology fellowship. Our four neurocritical care neurologists provide state-of-the-art neurocritical care in our dedicated 14-bed Neuroscience ICU. This new phase of growth of Neurology at LVHN is being led by Dr. Steven L. Lewis, Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology.
LVHN offers providers the strength of a large network, an integrated medical staff and a platform to develop and grow your clinical, research, academic, and educational career.
LVHN is a 988 bed regional referral center 90 miles west of NYC and 60 miles north of Philadelphia.
