Opportunity
Leveraging strategic sourcing best practices, this role supports Kohler’s Transportation teams with analytics, industry insights, category strategies, vendor management and facilitation of competitive bids. The ultimate responsibility is to secure the best-in-class transportation partners and solutions at competitive rates to maximize value for the transportation function. This is a critical aspect of the Kohler business, ensuring inbound supply chain performance for our manufacturing operations, as well as outbound performance for all customer delivery channels.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with Transportation and Business leaders to determine the best portfolio strategy to support Kohler’s growth and cost-containment requirements, execute competitive bids, and secure the right carriers and solutions to deliver the desired results.
Strategic Sourcing, RFP Facilitation, and Negotiation
Everyday execution requires confidence, heightened curiosity to dig deep into the business, action-orientation, and effective communication and project management skills.
Engage deeply in the business to understand needs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement
Monitor macroeconomic trends and cost drivers (fuel, labor, capacity) to inform the sourcing and negotiation process
Collaborate with Stakeholders to define sourcing strategies that unlock potential from within our operations
Independently manage multiple, complex sourcing events, ensuring the highest standards of objectivity, fairness, and ethics
Use analytics to provide sound recommendations for negotiation and awards
Lead cross-functional teams to identify and capture value through the negotiation process
Contracting and Risk Mitigation
Partner with legal and internal business teams to standardize and negotiate contracts that
secure business value, mitigate risk to Kohler, and ensure supplier performance.
Guarantee adequate supplier certification to Kohler’s Standards
Educate clients and recommend steps to mitigate, manage, and avoid inherent risks in the industry and explicit risks identified with suppliers.
Protect Kohler and its employees from risk, by assuming responsibility for the best-in-class sourcing and procurement process and compliance to our Policy
Category Strategy Development
Effective category strategy development is the key to delivering breakthrough results for the business. Through a proven method of gathering pertinent information, this role will partner closely with the business to determine the approach and align on recommendations.
Analyze Kohler’s spend within the category to understand rate, mix, and volume trends
Continually evaluate the industry, with specific attention to emerging technologies and solutions, prospective suppliers, and global and local economic shifts
Identify and isolate nuances within the categories to develop a portfolio perspective that balances cost, quality, scale, and capabilities.
Identify the solutions and partners that align most closely to our business needs to fuel the sourcing strategies
Present Strategies and recommendations to business executives to secure alignment priorities and business objectives
Collaborate and coordinate with category leaders in EMEA, APAC, and other markets to share insights and leverage Kohler’s scale where possible

Skills/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business or Engineering, with minimum three years of professional experience preferably working within the transportation field.
Proficient in use of all common computer Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Previous SAP experience desirable.
