Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Transportation Logistics Director – in our Wood and Fiber organization. This role will be based out of Georgia Pacific Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Georgia-Pacific Wood and Fiber Supply is key to ensuring that GP’s 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. Reporting to the Regional Fiber Manager, , this individual will be responsible for developing a team of professionals who maximize long-term value for the WFS Transportation Logistics Group. while building strong business relationships with transportation providers, material suppliers and sales customers within the Southeastern US. Additionally, they will lead process improvements as well as developing innovative solutions to recurring issues.
What You Will Do In Your Role
Environmental, Health and Safety excellence – lead team to pursue excellence in these areas for all aspects of performance. Understand and apply the risk management system (RMS) for the team
10,000% Compliance – manage operations by setting high expectations for compliance including the Code of Conduct – set an example for the team of compliance excellence
Develop long and short-term transportation logistics strategies for the US SE. Provide leadership for your team to apply MBM for lowest cost/highest value sourcing/sales programs.
Communication – direct communication with regional WFS leadership. Support innovation and experimentation for both WFS and manufacturing. Stay abreast of issues and respond appropriately
Ensure that business risk profiles are understood and implemented in transportation logistics plans
Participating in all business projects by providing WFS point-of-view and support
Developing talent for Transportation Logistics Group by utilizing (Market Based Management) MBM in creating a culture of principled entrepreneurs and value creation. Work with employees in performance and career development to maximize their contribution and find fulfillment in their roles
Supervising direct reports creating clear Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations (RREs), monitoring performance, providing feedback, and developing opportunities for improvement.
Develop and analyze data/trends to support logistics procedures and policies with actionable metrics
Assist with the transportation management pertaining to the procurement and sales of fiber for GP’s manufacturing facilities
Interact with multiple levels and functions within the organization and market
The Experience You Will Bring
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain or related subject7+ years’ experience in logistics or transportation OR- In Lieu of Degree 10 or more years of experience in Transportation Logistics Operations
Experience with Microsoft Word (i.e., documentation and formatting), Excel (i.e., creating workbooks and writing formulas with functions), Power Point (i.e., creating slides for presentations) and Outlook
Limited travel with some overnight travel
