National Grid is hiring a Lead Planner for our Project Control and Compliance Execution department in Melville, NY.

Job Purpose
Responsible for safety, compliance and improvement activities that contribute to the successful achievement of business objectives by the Compliance Execution department within the NY Gas Complex Capital Construction Organization. Utilizing a strategic and proactive approach, work collaboratively with VP, department directors and managers, and stakeholders across NY Gas Complex Capital Construction and the wider business to influence safety and compliance outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
Participate in and contribute to communications with Capital Construction personnel and construction contractors (e.g. safety stand downs, bi- weekly safety calls, hubs).
Provide support to the Gas Complex Capital Construction VP as requested including executive / department level reports, leadership in compliance management, Contractor Safety Roundtable meetings, Safety Leadership Day, Safety Plan development and tracking and other activities as requested.
Perform desktop and field assessments of complex construction projects to provide assurance of adherence to safety and compliance requirements, policies and procedures. For example:
Safety – Job briefs, hazard awareness, traffic management, PPE
Compliance – Access to National Grid gas procedures, OQ verification, competent person, licenses/certifications.
Document and report on results of these assessments via written reports to identify trends, communicate gaps and enable the process owners to take actions to improve their controls.
Engage with other assurance providers (i.e. Field Safety, Pipeline Safety/QAQC) to effectively coordinate efforts and share assessment results.
Provide recommendations and assist in development of corrective actions to improve the quality and safety of Gas Complex Capital Construction activities.
Act as the Safety Champion for Gas Complex Capital Construction utilizing a proactive approach. Act as liaison for Process Safety Management within Gas Complex Capital Construction
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical or business discipline and/or relevant engineering, safety (occupational, process, pipeline), construction or utility operations experience.
5+ years’ experience with demonstrated ability to communicate across organizational boundaries to execute assurance activities to enable the team to deliver high performance.
In-depth knowledge and deep operational experience in the utility business. Strong demonstrated skills in the following areas:
Written and oral communications, including developing and executing communications through various mediums including verbal presentations, emails, PowerPoint, conference calls, and other appropriate methods
Organization and management of multiple tasks / priorities to deliver high results Foster a collaborative environment focused on achieving outcomes.
Experience of managing relationships and influencing across all organizational levels. Identifies relationships between sources of data such as cause and effect or trends. Self- motivated with demonstrated leadership capability to work independently.
Uses direct persuasion to influence others using data, logic or a solid business case.
Reviews work for accuracy, pays attention to detail and takes personal responsibility for outcomes.
Displays commitment to safe and productive work environment through consistent actions, beliefs and personal conduct. Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history.

$137,000 – 161,000 a year
