Primary Responsibilities:

KeHE has an immediate opportunity for a strategic Human Resources Leader to join our high performing Human Resources team as a Senior Director, reporting to our National VP of HR for Operations. This role will support Warehouse and Transportation teams across our Central US region and lead a team of 10-12 HR professionals (both direct and indirect). This HR leader will have multi-state/multi-site responsibility and a home base out of either Dallas, TX, or Naperville or Romeoville, IL. This position is a hybrid remote role with a blend of travel and on-site across our central region distribution centers, with the opportunity to work remote or hotel from our Corporate office or local DC in between travel. The primary responsibility of the Senior Director Human Resources will be to serve as a strategic business partner in our fast-paced, high growth and dynamic business environment where we work relentlessly to care for both our employees and our customers.

We are seeking a seasoned HR professional who brings deep knowledge and expertise but is also able to listen, learn and cultivate strong relationships rooted in trust to drive change and deliver value to the business. Successful candidates will also be willing to roll up their sleeves and provide tactical HR support as needed to do what it takes to support fluctuating demands in a competitive business environment. A blend of experience across multiple facets of HR within both union and union free distribution or warehouse environments is critical.

Essential Functions:

This role will achieve results through leading and supporting others and drive strong collaboration across multiple key stakeholders within the business and HR. While working tirelessly to foster an environment consistent with KeHE’ s Culture, Mission and Values, this role will be responsible for the following:

• Lead and develop a team of HR professionals to care for employees, protect our culture and proactively partner with the business to drive strategy and foster growth.
• Learn the business cold, develop strong relationships and anticipate business and people strategies necessary to support growth.
• Adapt people strategies and priorities as necessary to meet the unique needs of the each Distribution Center based on DC level goals, challenges, and labor market conditions
• Partner with operations leadership on both regional and/or local strategies to continuously improve employee experience cultivating a workplace where employees stay, thrive, and grow
• Champion change management to support our on-going focus on continuous improvement initiatives, help build and communicate compelling business case to influence key stakeholders, gain buy in and drive sustainable results
• Provide oversight and point of escalation for all day-to-day HR operational support, ensuring barriers are removed and business needs are always met
• Lead escalated, often complex, employee relations issues utilizing a high degree of confidentiality and managing multiple key stakeholders to ensure alignment and mitigate risk for the best possible outcome
• Build strong and trusted partnerships with HR counterparts across talent acquisition, talent development, compensation and benefits, and Compliance to deliver high quality people strategy and solutions to our business leaders
• Advise, counsel and influence decisions on complex people, process and culture challenges. Provide courageous people perspective on business issues, even when unpopular.
• Contribute to a strong and unified HR Leadership team to create and drive synergies.
• Provide judicious oversight for regional HR budget to include HR headcount management and operating expenses.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude:

• Minimum 15 years HR business partner experience, at least 3-5 years at the Director level and leading a team of HR professionals across multiple geographies
• Distribution and/or Manufacturing human resources experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field required.
• PHR/SPHR preferred.
• Proven ability to interact with and influence leaders.
• Ability to work successfully under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues and competing priorities.
• Experience working within a union environment including collective bargaining negotiations, grievance management, and arbitrations.
• Travel up to 60% to support local HR teams, establish a strong presence and develop deep understanding of unique locations and business environments

• Contribute and support to the overall goals of the Human Resources Department.
• Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve emotional and complex problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
• Capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints.
• Able to work effectively with peers, region and corporate leadership, and the operations team in a productive collaborative environment coupled with the ability to be decisive is needed.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
