Job Description:
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is responsible for performing specific billing processes, account follow-up, resolution, adjustments, and scanning as needed. This role works collaboratively with other departments to meet facility goals and objectives. The PAR is accountable for resolving accounts and effectively communicating payment patterns and issues with specific payers to management.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact third-party payers and guarantors via payer websites or phone to resolve account balances on assigned accounts.
Process all correspondence within 24 hours of receipt, ensuring detailed notes are entered into the client’s system.
Work on denials, taking necessary actions to achieve account resolution.
Submit appeals, as required, for non-clinical denials.
Monitor denials for trends and issues, reporting findings to supervisor.
Bill or re-bill claims when necessary.
Ensure compliance with state and federal billing and HIPAA regulations.
Complete assigned special projects within given time frames.
Attend training sessions and seminars offered by the Client and Third-Party Payers.
Appropriately document each account worked in the client’s practice management system.
Make necessary corrections in the client’s practice management system.
Resolve or forward address and/or plan changes as appropriate to maintain insurance master integrity.
Update patient accounts with corrected demographic or insurance information.
Post adjustments based on standard operating procedures or as directed by leadership.
Handle all customer calls, both internal and external, in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
1 year of experience in office, customer service, or healthcare field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in revenue cycle.
Understanding of physician billing and payer processes.
Proficiency in PC skills in a Windows environment, including Word and Excel.
Ability to initiate and follow through on projects independently with minimal supervision.
The annual salary range for this position is $41,400.00 – $62,100.00 and compensation is determined based on factors such as skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
