Job Description:

Jams Costumes Inc dba Dansco, a manufacturer and wholesaler of dance recital costumes located in Attleboro, MA is seeking an in-house Designer for a direct hire position.

Primary responsibilities include designing costumes that further the Dansco brand by being creative and on-trend while maintaining customer expectations for quality, comfort, fit, and functionality. The Designer must collaborate closely with the Purchasing, Technical Design, and Manufacturing departments to produce feasible designs that not only are appealing to our customers, but also meet internal cost targets, optimize fabric and trim usage, and ensure manufacturability.

The Designer is responsible for conducting market research to maintain an understanding of our customer base, analyze current dance trends, and identify new trends in fabrics, trims, and accessories. The Designer utilizes their communication and presentation skills to translate their concept from sketch into reality, working closely with Technical Design and Production departments to produce finished samples that meet the Dansco brand style and fit. The Designer also collaborates with the creative and sales teams to select, shoot, and produce a well-rounded costume collection, published annually.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Apparel/Fashion Design or related field

• 5+ years of applicable experience

• Strong illustration skills, experience with AccuMark a plus

• Excellent design and conceptual skills

• Excellent style and color aesthetic

• Excellent understanding of garment construction, fit, finishes, and industry resources

• Experience with commercial product development

• Strong attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; flexible and adaptable to change

Pay: $38,059.53 – $108,777.88 per year
