James Avery Artisan Jewelry Looking for Designer at Cedar Park, TX Full Time

Job Summary

The Designer is part of a design team that is responsible for concepting the designs for seasonal launches that maintain the James Avery brand aesthetic and appeal to today’s customer. Mediums can include hand-drawn sketches, CAD renderings, and/or prints. The Designer will take seasonal direction from the Director of Design, but will also be responsible for researching and bringing forward new ideas around trend, design and innovation. A two to three month training period for onboarding in Kerrville, TX at our design studio will be required. Also, occasional travel to Kerrville, TX will be required following the training period.

Essential Functions

Contributes to the creation of seasonal launches as follows:

• by independently developing design solutions to satisfy the line plan and communicating the new design concepts through finished and accurate drawings, CAD renderings and/or prints.
• through close collaboration with Director of Design to review artistic/creative direction and progress as related to line plan and product requirements.
• through collaboration with other team members to reach ever-better design solutions (with Designers and Technical Designer/Prototype Makers in getting designs made).
• through other work such as research, creating decks, trend boards, and/or presentations.
• by incorporating new methods and/or materials to improve design, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency in their projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Jewelry-Making, Design, Illustration or Sculpture related field; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in jewelry design.
• Working knowledge of design fundamentals such as sketching and forming.
• Ability to illustrate and render concepts for review.
• Must be highly creative with a proven track record in the Jewelry/Fashion/Accessories industry.
• Must be detail-oriented with a discerning eye.
• Awareness of fashion and consumer trends as well as an elevated taste level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Fine Arts or related field.
• Ability to build prototypes on the bench.
• Ability to design in CAD.
• Knowledge of Rhino/Matrix/Zbrush.
