Description:
IWCC is seeking an online instructor to utilize virtual means to teach
students the course work required to become substitute teachers. This 20-hour course is designed to meet the State of Iowa BOEE Substitute Teacher Authorization program. Course work is taught through Canvas. Instructor may determine a
timeframe (typically 6-8 weeks) to deliver the coursework and to schedule weekly required Zoom session with
students.
Topics include classroom management, diversity, ethics, and instructional strategies. This online instructor
will use a variety of technology such as video chat and televised courses to ensure students remain engaged throughout the remote session.
Duties involve guiding students through online presentations, chatting in student forums, answering questions on the assigned material,
solicit feedback, assign homework, and engage in discussions. Instructor will use a rubric format to determine assignment value and
grades.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to
operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social
interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills
with the teaching and learning process, and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
