Hudson’s Bay Company Looking for Maintenance Supervisor at Scarborough, Ontario Full Time

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the operational requirements/duties of the maintenance department including decision-making to maintain the building and all equipment in suitable condition so that all operations can be conducted in an efficient manner and enforcement of company policies, Health and Safety policies, rules and regulations.

Who Are You:  

• Provide support and leadership within department
• Maintain productivity standards and ensure service level agreements are met, internally and externally and strive for improvement
• Ensure compliance of the health and safety specific requirements within the Health and Safety program as outlined in Policy 2.1 (a,b,c,d), titled Supervisor’s Responsibilities
• Reinforce and demonstrate a positive “health and safety” attitude and working climate and holding information sessions with associates on health and safety issues
• Discipline infractions are issued for violations as per the discipline procedure
• Actively support the company’s commitment to standards of quality customer service
• Physical security of company assets, building and property
• Recognize and correct procedures and documentation errors that could lead to shrinkage
• Define objectives and priorities for self and others
• Develop action plans and set high standards for self and staff
• Leverage resources to achieve results while fostering a team effort
• Ability to adapt to change with a positive attitude
• Models good service internally and externally while practicing personal accountability
• Maintain all communication programs including:  regular staff meetings, follow up on ACCESS concerns/issues, supports employee recognition programs, performance discussions
• Assign challenging and realistic tasks while welcoming constructive questions
• Evaluate and control performance for continuous improvement while keeping people informed of improvements
• Timely and effective completion of staff performance achievement reviews
• Create an atmosphere of continuous learning and identify 2-3 candidates as potential replacements while working to develop them
• Keep current and continue to learn (i.e. Best of Class); develops new skills and knowledge in self and others
• Maintain General Housekeeping Standards at all times
• All other duties as assigned by management

• PC literate
• Ability to analyze, dissect and solve problems in a timely and effective manner
• Excellent judgement skills and good work ethics
• Ability to cope with stress

As The [Maintenance Supervisor], you will:

• Develop daily plans based on priorities to ensure all electrical and mechanical equipment is performing at its optimum level to achieve productivity performance
• Responsible for the management of energy awareness program
• Maintain budget and financial records
• Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best price on purchases, parts and services
• Gather and present information on capital expenditures re: equipment and building to National Operations Manager
• Monitor and maintain preventative maintenance programs
• Monitor and update departmental systems and processes
• Keep National Operations Manager and DC Manager informed all relevant issues on a daily basis
• Plan staff requirements according to priority of outstanding work orders
• Ensure a commitment to a safe and secure work environment for all associates
• Schedule all repairs in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain control parts inventory
• Maintain and repair environmental systems
• Maintain fire systems
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of control systems
