Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Looking for Comunication Project Manager for the Coordination of the ERN Epi Care Ref. 291-2023 at Esplugues de Llobregat Full Time

We are opening a public call for an experienced EU Communication Manager, to be based in Barcelona, Spain. He/she will join, starting January 2024, the Management team of the European Reference Network for Rare and Complex Epilepsies, ERN EpiCARE as the Communication strategic planner and implementor (Communication, Dissemination, Evaluation, Education and Training). He/She will work under the responsibility of the ERN Coordinator, Pr. Alexis Arzimanoglou, Director of the HSJD Epilepsy Program,

Background information:

ERN-EpiCARE (https://epi-care.eu), the European Reference Network dedicated to Rare and Complex Epilepsies is currently composed by 50 full and affiliated members (medical teams) in 26 EU Member States. The medical teams, accredited as members of EpiCARE can be found on the network website: https://epi-care.eu/members-of-epicare/ .

The management of the ERNs (24 in total covering different areas of diseases, launched in 2017/ https://health.ec.europa.eu/european-reference-networks/overview_en) is funded by the European Commission.

Since October 2023, the administrative coordination of the ERN EpiCARE was entrusted to the Hospital San Juan Dios (HSJD), full member of EpiCARE together with the Hospital Clinic medical team, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Alexis Arzimanoglou, coordinator of EpiCARE since 2019.

The missions of ERN EpiCARE are:

• Contribute, in partnership with the corresponding scientific societies and patient advocates, to the development of best practices in epilepsy care.
• Develop educational and training activities, Guidelines, Clinical tools.
• Organize multidisciplinary consultations (telemedicine) between experts across the EU and beyond to discuss rare or complex epilepsy cases.
• Foster research in the field of the epilepsies, clinical trials at the initiative and/or with the participation of EpiCARE medical team members.
• Contribute to the development of comprehensive health care policies for patients with rare epilepsies, integration of the ERN EpiCARE to the national health care systems within the EU and, whenever needed, cross-borders care services to ensure equal access to care for all EU citizens.

The new EU grant for the management of the ERN EpiCARE covers the period October 2023-September 2027). The global coordination of EpiCARE is entrusted to HSJD, while 2 other beneficiaries, the KATHOLIEKE UNIVERSITEIT LEUVEN (Belgium) under the leadership of Professor Lieven LAGAE, and the GEMEINNUTZIGE SALZBURGER LANDESKLINIKEN BETRIEB (Austria) under the leadership if Professor Eugen TRINKA, are respectively in charge of the Working Packages related to the Registry and to the Guidelines and Clinical tools.

Five other Project Managers, based in Austria, Belgium, France, Spain and in the UK, are already working for the ERN EpiCARE, collectively sharing competencies in Administration, Finances, Public Health services, Communication, Fostering Research, Data Management, production of Scientific Guidelines, Education.

MISSIONS:

• Prepare communication and dissemination strategies, reports and action plans.
• Follow indicators and monitor results, with regular reporting.
• Social media management (Linkedin, Facebook, Youtube and X).
• Update and maintain the website (using wordpress).
• Content creation (digital and print).
• Regular, active and constructive contribution to EpiCARE Management team meetings and missions.
• E-mailing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Improve care pathways, diagnosis, and treatment of rare epilepsies across Europe by disseminating ERN EpiCARE activities, scientific results, guidelines and recommendations.
• Ensure efficient internal communication between EpiCARE members, for optimal collaborations and sharing of best practices.
• Empower persons affected by rare epilepsies, their families, and caregivers by providing them easy-to-find information and resources in line with EpiCARE practices.
• Build a patient-centred communication, by relying on patient representatives’ participation. Patient Advocates liaison.
• Promote the EU activities focused on rare diseases and rare epilepsies.
• Dissemination of results, guidelines, and EpiCARE recommendations to maximize impact of the network’s activities in the EU.
• Liaise with the scientific societies in the field.
• Event organisation
• Communication partnership / press relation
• Support the integration of EpiCARE into national healthcare systems.
• Organizing and monitoring EpiCARE indicators
• Evaluation of impact of educational activities and source of proposals.
• Monitoring of guideline implementation and impact
• Evaluate the satisfaction of HCP members, related to management activities.
• Enhance sharing of good practices, to increase quality of care across the EU.
• Support training activities for future experts, to ensure continuous improvement of the care of people affected by rare and complex epilepsies.
• Follow-up EU Commission meetings
• Overview of the deliverables and global project follow-up.

DAY SCHEDULE AND CONTRACT:

• The working day will be at 100%, from Monday to Friday with midday break. Hours: from 9:00h to 17:26h.
• The project will last almost 4 years. Possibility to extend after that.
• Partial teleworking possible, in agreement with the ERN EpiCARE Coordinator.
• Flexible working hours and travelling abroad may occasionally be required.

Requirements:

THE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Proven experience in administrative and communication management, preferably in the field of public health.
• Fluent (spoken and written) in English and Spanish. Not less than 90% of all written reports and meetings are conducted exclusively in English.
• Experience with communication and design tools
• Good community manager skills with the ability to keep each social network updated.
• Fair knowledge of main rules and regulations affecting European Projects: legal, and administrative aspects.
• It is essential to be proficient with Adobe Suite and Wordpress for the website.

WE VALUE:

• Have a good understanding of all the organizations, institutions, hospitals, patient advocate groups etc. that are in contact with patients with Rare Diseases.
• Experience with public health policies would be considered an important asset.
• Knowledge of a 3rd EU language will be considered a strong asset.
