The focus of Tucson Tissue Diagnostics is to innovate and manufacture instruments and reagents that automate tissue processing and slide staining for cancer diagnostics.

The Supervisor Senior Logistics and Transportation meets department cost, quality, delivery, and safety goals and objectives by coordinating activities across work teams and efficiently allocating resources. Creates and maintains metrics to achieve departmental goals. Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promotes company culture.
Responsibilities:
Standard Work:
Creates a bold, shared vision and higher purpose for the team.
Supervises, leads, plans, schedules and coordinates project/team activities. Conducts formal meetings, tracks project/production statuses, evokes quick decision making and resolves communication barriers.
Prioritizes team workload to create clarity and focus. Removes anything getting in the way. Encourages escalation, when needed.
Intentionally forms teams, networks and systems that enable action.
Supports team to make great decisions and encourages them to move forward.
Effectively collaborates with Global Functions and Business Areas for product launches and global transportation initiatives.
Oversees receipt, warehousing, distribution and the transportation of incoming and outgoing products within established schedule and budget targets.
Interfaces with other functional groups to gain alignment in the implementation of new processes and resolving problems.
Determines resource requirements and allocation by utilizing personnel, onsite/offsite contractors and outsourcing vendors to complete required elements of daily operations and projects on time and within budget.
Establishes and maintains metrics to monitor department activities and performance measures.
Maintains the flow of material in accordance with established manufacturing schedules, lead-times, processing times, order policies and compliant with global transportation requirements and initiatives.
Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved timely.
Responsible for yearly budget development for logistics and transportation spend.
People/Team Development:
Provides necessary training and guidance for career development needs to direct reports via ongoing career discussions and individual development plans.
Serves as a mentor in developing individual contributors into people leaders.
Manages employee performance (contribution, attendance and timekeeping, quality, etc.) through Contribution Check-ins, annual review process, ongoing feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
Manages staff; provides staff with coaching, training and opportunities to develop skills, and gives ongoing, constructive and timely feedback on performance and progress toward goals and expectations.
Establishes and monitors team cross training expectations.
Helps team build the skills and mindsets needed to succeed in an open system.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintains quality system compliance (e.g., follow processes and procedures as written) for self and direct reports.
Ensures compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures, regulatory and quality requirements, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Assists in the development and maintenance of functional area SOPs.
Participates in area audits. Ensures nonconformance reports and CAPA’s are completed in appropriate timeframes.
Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardous shipments, employee safety, and freight classifications.
Continuous Improvement:
Identifies areas for improvement, proposes changes, gains approval and implements process change utilizing Lean MFG applications.
Leverages technology tools to initiate continuous improvement projects which optimize the physical and/or information flows to internal and external customers.
Oversees respective area’s 6s performance and ongoing housekeeping needs.
Business Strategy:
Provides Global Procurement feedback on transportation/warehousing provider performance.
Aligns with Roche procurement counterparts to negotiate, develop and maintain agreed upon transportation and warehousing strategies in compliance with Global Supply Chain Quality.
Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective transportation methods.
Assist in the implementation for new DIA, RMS and RTD strategies, projects and initiatives.
Negotiates and secures contracts with transportation providers and customers.
Professional Development:
Identifies development opportunities in current role and builds actionable plans to improve in areas of opportunity.
Owns development plan, ongoing maintenance of plan and ongoing career discussions with leader.
Meets with mentor for ongoing development support.
Other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Eight years relevant experience with Associates degree or equivalent school credits OR
Five years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree OR
Three years relevant experience with Master’s degree.
Experience must include two years supervisory, process or project management
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Quality System Regulation (QSR) experience.
Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) /Lean MFG experience.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/ Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system knowledge.
Knowledge of International shipment regulations and requirements.
Knowledge of Hazardous Material transportation guidelines.
Oracle and SAP experience preferred.
Must have strong logistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
