Health Catalyst is looking for a collaborative, proactive, and resourceful Communications Specialist, capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment.
This position will report to the Communication Manager, and work under the supervision of the Vice President of Corporate Communications. The position will work closely with other members of the Marketing & Communications team, as well as company leadership and subject matter experts.
As this role is responsible for day-to-day activity and execution of multiple communications programs, the candidate should be skilled at project management and problem-solving, and well-versed in internal and external communication best practices. This role involves developing communications materials including media lists and pitches, awards submissions, speaker submissions, Q&As, and feature articles, among other types of content. The candidate should also have experience managing and meeting deadlines, understanding and distilling complex topics, and supporting speaking, awards, and media relations programs.
To be successful, this individual should be just as comfortable working independently as with cross-functional partners.
What you’ll own:
Develop and nurture relationships with national, local, and trade media.
Identify relevant healthcare industry trends and counsel the team on any potential impacts to the business
Work closely with senior leaders to respond to media inquiries; recommend approaches and execute against plans under tight deadlines
Assist in the creation of written communications materials; ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy
Support Health Catalyst speaker bureau: Identify relevant speaking opportunities, maintain a calendar of events, gather materials, and draft speaker submissions
Support Health Catalyst awards: Identify relevant award opportunities for Health Catalyst, its leaders, clients, and team members. Maintain a calendar of award opportunities, gather materials, and draft award submissions
Work cross-functionally (Internal Comms, Marketing, IR, Finance, Legal) to support company announcements and major communications initiatives
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a related area
3-5 years of media relations, external communications, or journalism experience
Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of internal and external communications and how it can advance the mission and vision of Health Catalyst to its various external audiences
Proven ability to develop thoughtful story angles that result in earned media coverage
Ability to understand and distill complex topics
Capacity to manage and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal, presentation, writing, editing, and proof-reading skills
Experience working collaboratively across teams, juggling multiple requests and projects, and prioritizing work in real-time
Working knowledge of the healthcare industry preferred
Travel not required for this role
