Job Description

The Bariatric Coordinator shares responsibility for administering all aspects of the bariatric program. Work with customers to include: inpatients, outpatients, physicians, allied health professionals and the community through program development, planning, organizing, implementation, assessment, and patient education for the bariatric program. Serve as the liaison between the hospital and physician practices. Collaborate with the Bariatric Medical Director on growth and quality initiatives. Organize patient seminars, outreach initiatives, and post-surgical patient support groups. The Bariatric Coordinator works with a multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program requirements and subsequent COE designation as well as the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid LCD requirements and conditions of participation, and all other regulatory requirements and standards that may be required by local, state, and federal agencies. Responsible for maintaining required manuals and current policies and procedures as well as identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives. Assists in the coordination of appointments and other operational processes related to the bariatric program. in interdepartmental meetings and process teams to improve patient care and outcomes. Stay current with research and treatment options and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse or Registered Dietician license issued by the state of Iowa or registered healthcare provider
• Experience in healthcare-related field with current experience in the area of bariatrics preferred
• Bachelor degree in healthcare-related field preferred
• High level of interpersonal/communication skills to promote team-based approaches to patient care
• Excellent written and verbal skills
