Support our customers in providing braille materials to braille readers. This position will interact on a regular basis with AMAC management, staff, and external vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: AMAC management and staff. This position will supervise: NA
Job Duty 1 –
Complete transcription projects assigned and ensure quality control of all deliverables.
Job Duty 2 –
Effectively communicate with customers to understand their needs.
Job Duty 3 –
Accurately evaluate and quote transcription projects.
Job Duty 4 –
Coordinate workflow to ensure project deliverables are met.
Job Duty 5 –
Maintain database-related inventories and tracking.
Job Duty 6 –
Develop and document processes and procedures.
Job Duty 7 –
Train Braille Media Specialist team members and vendors on processes and procedures.
Job Duty 8 –
Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma
Required Experience
Three to four years of job-related experience
Other Required Qualifications
LOC/NLS Certified Braille Transcriber and at least one of the following: Nemeth, Music, Proofreading, Formats.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
At least one additional certification in one of the following: Nemeth, Music, Proofreading, Formats. Familiarity with Braille embossing equipment, including embossers, bursters, binders, and thermoforming machinery.
Ability and experience with providing tactile graphics in at least one of the acceptable methods such as collage, swell, or computerized graphics Experience with at least one software associated with computerized graphics and document imaging. Advanced knowledge of computer database management
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field
Hourly Range: $29.19- $34.00/hr
Job Grade: I4
All employment is ultimately contingent upon available funding and business needs.
SKILLS
This job requires a strong knowledge of at least one relevant braille translation software such as Braille 2000, Duxbury, MegaDots, etc. Organization, effective written and spoken communication. Attention to detail. A complete understanding of BANA standards and how to apply them. Motivation to make decisions independently in a fast-paced environment committed to completeness and accuracy.
