Summary
Responsible for Carpet Logistics Planning, including scheduling booth/aisle carpet loads to and from the mill with transportation partner, mill partner and branch operations. Works diligently to ensure reliable on-time delivery in a dynamic work environment while controlling overall transportation spend.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manages logistics planning operations for the purpose of providing services within established time frames and in compliance with related requirements.
Books all outbound and inbound transportation for aisle/booth carpet from mill to events and back.
Collaborates daily with dedicated transportation partner to manage and level driver schedules.
Responsible for managing the efficient utilization of 14+ dedicated drivers and 150+ trailer assets.
Reviews carpet demand forecasts to help transportation/mill partners develop strategic trans/production plan.
Analyzes carpet volume and breaks down into executable load plans, ensuring carpet is sequenced and loaded by priority in the trailer and adhering to trailer weight restrictions.
Communicates directly with branch operations and regional planners to clarify due dates, delivery location, point of contact, drop or live load, and other venue/event specific information.
Actively seeks opportunities to combine events, fill trailers and identify drop and hook scenarios to maximize fleet utilization and minimize transportation costs.
Administers all aspects of scheduling software (SharePoint), ensuring all outbound and return loads are accurately scheduled and kept up to date and appropriate user access is granted.
Holds daily meetings with planners, branch operations, mill and transportation partners to ensure all parties understand the plan and communicate any changes or concerns.
Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
Assesses incidents, complaints, suggestions for the purpose of minimizing on time delivery risk.
Acts as a subject matter expert for branch operations/sales to provide efficient solutions for last minute business challenges.
Maintains excellent relationships with all outside carriers and internal transportation providers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
Three to Five years related experience or a combination of education, training and experience.
