The Vice President of Finance will assume an integral leadership role in the organization, managing the Accounting and Finance teams and supporting senior management in setting the strategic course for the business. Acting as the right hand and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the VP of Finance will own a broad set of financial responsibilities, including budgeting and forecasting, the monthly close process, management reporting, the annual audit, and managing the company’s multiple credit facilities. The VP of Finance will also support the COO in interacting with important stakeholders, including the company’s Private Equity sponsors, Board of Directors, senior lenders, auditors, and executive team. The VP of Finance will act as a steward of the business, will possess impeccable integrity, thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, hold himself/herself and others to the highest standards, collaborate well across all levels of the organization, and embrace Fora Financial’s close-knit, results oriented culture. Key Responsibilities:
The VP of Finance will lead all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions, including managing a team of 7 resources. Critical departmental responsibilities include:
Run ongoing financial modeling and scenario analysis, including leading the annual strategic planning process, quarterly reforecasts, and rolling updates to the company’s comprehensive driver-based financial model
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior management and PE sponsors, including Board of Directors and Monthly Financial Review presentations
Own day to day financial and treasury operations, including management of multiple senior credit facilities (warehouse, securitization), cash flow and liquidity optimization, and long term planning to ensure expected asset growth is fully funded
Lead the month-end close process, overseeing flawless quality control over all journal entries, producing insightful analysis into results drivers, and ensuring timely review with COO and submission to PE sponsors
Provide insightful analysis of complex data in a succinct fashion to non-finance business leaders; deliver analyses that synthesize, distill, and clearly communicate key trends and insights, variances to budget, future drivers, and opportunities and risks, leveraging and demonstrating a strong command of the business and its KPIs
Support COO and CEO in all capital markets transactions, to potentially include senior credit facilities (including securitization), subordinated debt, syndication/participation funds, acquisition financing, and equity sale. Lead cross-functional due diligence efforts to facilitate robust data management and timely process management crucial to successful outcomes
Coordinate multiple audit workstreams, including annual financial audit/tax preparation (RSM) and periodic field audits
Establish and reinforce appropriate business KPIs to align with company OKRs, focusing on sustainable growth, margin improvement, operating efficiency, and capital adequacy
Identify and lead initiatives to continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools and internal processes
Hold quarterly business reviews with functional leaders
Provide coaching and mentorship to support professional development of members of the Finance Team
Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, capital markets and/or public accounting with experience leading the finance function at a transactional lending business or financial technology company strongly preferred
Familiarity with a variety of capital markets processes, including high level of fluency with the concepts and mechanics of asset-based borrowing facilities
Demonstrated track record of leading and mentoring team members, implementing efficient departmental structures, and hiring quality talent
Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional processes such as budgets, forecasts, and strategic/long-range plan
Exceptional financial modeling and scenario planning skills
Proficiency in financial statement analysis, familiarity with daily accounting operations including journal entries, chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, etc.
Self-starter, independently motivated, with high intellectual curiosity and a passion for finance and business
Compelling “storyteller,” able to translate numbers into an accurate and effective business narrative appropriate for stakeholders at all levels
Confident decision maker with the will to act independently in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment where data can be imperfect or ambiguous
Highly collaborative and humble personality who values business relationships. Transparent communicator who can filter out superfluous information to present results and recommendations
