Job Title: Manager, Electrical Engineering
Job Summary:
Provides overall direction to Electrical Systems Engineering through the development and maintenance of engineering policies and procedures. These policies and procedures will be consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards. Develops performance objectives in support of the strategic goals of Fike Corporation. Provides engineering project or system design, investigation, experimentation, analysis, documentation and reporting for global product requirements. Provides project leadership from conception through product de-commissioning. Requires independent interpretation of requirements and discussion of problems with various employees and customers. Confers with Sales, Operations and Quality team members. Provides timely, cost effective, technical results.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervises and coordinates activities for the Electrical Systems Engineering department. Areas of focus can include, but are not limited to System Architecture, Software, Firmware and Hardware.
Participates in development activities such as System Architecture design and development of Software, Firmware and Hardware.
Prepares, manages and controls the budget including labor, expenses and outside services.
Provides written updates and supports discussions on key product and project activities.
Confers with management and reviews project proposals and plans in the development of project objectives.
Studies product design, customer requirements, performance standards and completes technical studies to determine product specifications.
Identifies project phases and elements such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical specifications and product testing to determine project responsibilities and assigns resources (including personnel) accordingly.
Takes responsibility for project schedules and sequences project elements.
Monitors project progress, provides guidance as required and assists in the coordination of activities.
Prioritizes activities when there is a conflict in resources required.
Confers with Sales, Production, Marketing and Quality to clarify or resolve problems.
Interacts with customers, representatives, sales personnel, marketing personnel, quality and manufacturing personnel, and test personnel to evaluate product application and materials.
Provides cost-effective technical solutions to meet needs.
Resolves engineering design and test problems.
Confirms adequate planning for service requests and special testing requirements.
Reviews and approves reports documenting test results.
Studies and uses applicable parts of ANSI, NFPA, and other standards.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, seminars and conferences.
Participates in established networks and professional societies.
Reviews professional publications.
Selects and maintains qualified personnel throughout the department.
Identifies training needs; initiates development of subordinates; recommends appropriate personnel action.
Recommends compensation levels.
Reviews personnel training logs.
Provides coaching, counseling, and performance feedback.
Coordinates leaves and schedules of staff members.
Responds to corrective action issues.
Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.
Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

Work Environment:
Work will be performed in an office environment or an industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Some travel domestically and internationally as required.
Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline. Eight years post-degree experience with at least one year of supervisory or project management experience. Demonstrated expertise in multiple areas of advanced electrical engineering encompassing circuit design, programming, manufacturing, and project management.
PREFERRED: BSEE Professional Engineering Registration. Master’s degree in a related technical field or management. Knowledge of CAD. Background with manufacturing business system’s software.
