Waveguide LLC is an independent consulting and design firm committed to providing superior service and comprehensive designs for our clients in a dynamic, collaborative, team environment. Our technology expertise includes audiovisual systems consulting and design, voice and data communications infrastructure, communication-friendly acoustic environments, and ongoing AV operations services.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an immediate opening to join our team as a Project Consultant in our northeast regional office. While the candidate is required to be in around the New York City Metro area, this full-time position is anticipated to be home-based, and we are entertaining candidates throughout the region. Project consultants with a design focus lead the technical infrastructure and systems coordination assisting internal and external teams with the planning, design and procurement of technology systems for new building construction and renovation projects. Remote / home-based work is anticipated as the primary workplace assuming the candidate meets the minimum home-office requirements. Candidates must have the ability to travel periodically to attend in-person meetings and visit project sites. Overnight travel may be required to support projects and conferences located outside the candidate’s home area.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical support of project teams in the planning, design and procurement of technology systems for new building construction and renovation projects
• Documentation of client processes for consistent application across multiple projects within a standardized environment
• Take ownership of projects and the processes. Challenge ideas and find ways to improve work products and processes.
• Coordinate project requirements with internal and external teams
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance of project designs and deliverables
• Assist the project team with project delivery, including project set up, meeting preparation and participation, internal and cross-discipline design reviews, report writing, and general coordination
• Coordination of project AV and communications infrastructure requirements with other low voltage systems and infrastructure, including IT, telecommunications, data networking, security, and smart building controls
• Build relationships that ensure successes for both internal and external teams
• Pursue ongoing professional growth and development of technical skills
• Assist and contribute to the Waveguide community

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant professional experience managing professional AV/IT projects, preferably as an independent consultant
• Four-year or higher degree in a relevant technical field (BSEE)
• AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist in Design (CTS D)
• In addition, project experience with a $2 to $5 million AV budget, experience with multi-year deployments, and international project experience is desired
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables and shift priorities as necessary
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong understanding of commercial/institutional AV technology applications and operations, including audio systems, video display technology, audio/video teleconferencing, digital signage, AV signal management and integrated control
• Understanding of commercial/institutional building design and construction, including understanding of typical building systems (i.e. HVAC, electrical, lighting, building controls, security, etc.)
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in all MS Office application
• Suitable environment for audio and video calls, 20-30% travel anticipated
