We are looking to add a critical member of Emerald’s accounting team. Emerald is a fast growing publicly traded company. This hands-on position supports the general ledger accounting, month-end close and reconciliations for the Company’s trade show as well as print and digital publication operations. This role will support the Director of Accounting and Reporting to ensure the Company is in compliance with all accounting requirements under US GAAP, with regards to these operations. This position will also play a critical role in providing support to the external auditors during the quarterly reviews and year-end audit as well as being a key member of the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley 404 team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of US GAAP, have excellent organizational and analytical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. As Emerald grows organically and through acquisitions, this role will be involved in ensuring newly acquired businesses and product launches are integrated into Emerald’s accounting systems in a smooth and systematic manner.
This role can be performed remotely, or from any one of Emerald’s offices. Preference given to candidates in proximity to our San Juan Capistrano, CA office, but willing to consider candidates willing to work West Coast hours.
Responsibilities:
Support the daily accounting operations and financial close process to ensure meet all internal and external reporting deadlines are met
Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency and automation, mitigate risks throughout the accounting processes and systems
Prepare quarterly allowance for doubtful accounts, monitor accounts receivable aging on a regular basis to ensure aged balances are addressed in a timely manner
Ensure the general ledger is correctly stated under U.S. GAAP for all of Emerald’s live and virtual events, publications and media properties
Support Company’s SOX program (financial controls), review and update narratives, identify control gaps, implement new controls to address identified gaps, prepare and deliver SOX control work papers to external SOX testers
Responsible for managing the flow of information to Emerald’s external auditors (PwC), ensuring the information and documentation provided is clear, concise, and easy to follow.
Works closely with external auditors to proactively complete financial statement audits.
Prepares 10Q and 10K footnote disclosures
Prepares financial reports for other external reporting requirements
Key team member for ensuring acquired businesses are integrated into Emerald’s accounting systems smoothly
Qualifications:
BS in Accounting / CPA preferred
5+ years of relevant accounting experience
Experience working with Big 4 Accounting firm external auditors
Experience with a fast-growing and entrepreneurial company
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Confident, self-starter, able to work with minimal direction
Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Target Compensation: $110,000 – $115,000 (Bonus Eligible)
Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
