The Opportunity:
The Director of the Wellness Center provides ambulatory medical services, first aid, and urgent care to all registered students, staff and faculty, within the limits set by the University, state and federal agencies, and guidelines and mandates of the State Board of Nursing. The director will have considerable knowledge of professional nursing theory, techniques, practices and procedures; considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease process and body systems, current clinical diagnostic procedures and treatment and skills in applying this knowledge. The Director will have the ability to evaluate a plan of nursing intervention to meet the needs of individual patients. Ability to make accurate decisions based upon the review of medical records and the ability to make recommendations for improvement in nursing services. Must have compassion, be detail oriented and flexible. The Director will be honest and transparent and have excellent vision for new policies and future visions for the Wellness Center. The Director will work under standing orders from the contracted Physician’s on staff. The Director is also responsible for managing 3 budgets for the Wellness Center. Responsible for maintaining records in HIPAA compliance, both on Pyramed software program and paper charts. Supervise 5 full time employees and maintain high quality of patient care and keep patient satisfaction at a high level. The director must have emotional intelligence, clinical knowledge, self-discipline, accountability, good communication skills, and a genuine love for the job.
The Director will be responsible for the oversight of the daily functions of the clinic. Supervise RN, as needed,also the medical assistant/office manager, biller, front office manager and insurance biller (remote), and office assistant who manages chiropractor visits, assists with budget and billing. The Director will provide strong leadership to enhance employee responsibility, morale, cooperation, and trust. Quality care is important. Customer service is a priority. Performance management outcomes will include monitoring the performance of the organization against service standards and organizational goals as well as collecting feedback from patients. The director must be a good judge of character and be able to develop conflict-resolution skills. The Director will have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, their families and staff by listening, understanding and responding to identified needs. Oversee implementation and maintenance of the medical records system; ensure confidentiality of information.
The Director will have the ability to establish and maintain effective communications and work relationships with Physicians, health care personnel, patients, and families. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely either verbally or in writing regarding the disease process, level of care and services being rendered to ensure that the intended audience understands the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. The Director will develop standing orders that will be agreed upon by the physicians to provide care and treatment to patients. The Director will work with local healthcare providers and continue to develop relationships with the local hospitals, dentists, doctors and mental health providers in the Prescott area and in Phoenix.
The Director will be the campus advocate for mandatory student health insurance. The director will remain aware of changes in regards to insurance billing, and have a great amount of input in the insurance process.
Ability to establish expectations and clear direction to meet goals and objectives. Continue development for Pyramed billing system of all insurance companies. Contract with company and will be responsible for implementing training for staff of Wellness Center.
Ability to meet organization goals through effective planning, prioritizing, organizing. Will work with all departments for planning and coordination. Directs and implements marketing to alert students to benefits of the Wellness Center. Maintains lines of communication with University personnel and off campus health providers. Conduct ongoing assessment to support continuous improvements in program and service quality and ensure satisfactory student health outcomes.
Director will coordinate contracts with all contracted employees and evaluate these partnerships yearly. Compiles periodic and annual reports of the Wellness Center reflecting utilization of services and cost effectiveness. Develops and monitors the annual budget for Wellness Center, DODMERB physicals and Insurance Revenue cost center.
Maintain liaison with the FAA and interprets FAR’s so as to ensure the safety of flight students as well as the resolution of conditions which affect or preclude their participation in the flight program. Assess physical and emotional conditions of individual flight students, and coordinate with Flight Line the medical grounding and ungrounding for flight activities. Responsible for reviewing medical information received from students and providing appropriate follow up.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Associate’s degree or completion of program of 18+ months after high school.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Computer knowledge, able to focus on details, must be approachable and able to maintain a welcoming environment. Must be able to manage office staff and physician’s on site. Must have daily communication with biller who is remote and include all in weekly staff meeting.
