Dreamwear Inc Looking for Assistant Print Designer (Danskin & Nicole Miller) at New York, NY Full Time

We are seeking an Assistant Print Designer but are open to a more experienced level Associate for the right candidate. (Posted salary range reflects the varying levels of experience we are considering.) This person will support our Danskin & Nicole Miller team for(both sleep and Daywear. Our ideal candidate will have a versatile hand and be able to switch perspectives between the two brands. He or she will be eager to learn, self-motivated, and able to execute these essential responsibilities:

• Support Print Designer in creating original prints and graphics from concept through pre-production in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to create original artworks through painting, photography and various art techniques with a contemporary hand feel.
• Communicate effectively with Print Designer, ask questions when necessary, and apply recently gained information on future projects.
• Research emerging print/graphic concepts and trends for inspiration with input from Print Designer.
• Proactively gain understanding of production constraints for factory ready artwork and repeats.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of repeat patterns, rotary printing, scaling of design, indexing and color separation.
• Must have an eye for detail, and be able to clean and refine artwork, whilst keeping the pattern integrity.
• Ability to learn how to reduce colors based on the number of screens required by factory capabilities.

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years experience in textile design (long-term internships or entry-level jobs strongly preferred)
• Degree in Textile Design or related field
• Strong illustrative hand, painting skills & color sense
• Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Motivated self-starter with a desire to learn
• Ideal candidate is passionate about print design, with a great eye for color, design, and trend
