JOB SUMMARY
The position of Molecular Applications Specialist (MAS) will build high-impact client relationships through effective training of clients in a defined geographic area, expediting the assay implementation process for accelerating revenue generation, and assisting field sales with organic revenue growth from current and prospective customers. The results of effective MAS efforts will be measured in the number of clients effectively trained on Luminex technology, the level of customer satisfaction, speed to “go-live” on new assay implementations, overall customer retention, and the organic revenue growth created by the collaboration with the Luminex Molecular Business Managers (Sales) in the life science and clinical diagnostic markets. The MAS will report directly to the appropriate Area Manager, Molecular Applications.
The MAS will handle all aspects of delivering scientific applications and technology training associated with Luminex software/hardware, assay development, on-site troubleshooting, Luminex IVD Kits, MultiCode-RTx technology and ARIES systems. This individual will also be responsible for staying current on the latest scientific uses of the Luminex technology, including current and new products. Training will be delivered at Luminex Training Centers and onsite locations to ensure Luminex customers, partners, and employees benefit from the learning and educational experience. Field travel could be heavy at times based on workload demands.
The position will directly interface with Luminex customers (both internal and external) and partners, other Molecular Applications Specialists, and the Training Coordinator. This position will also interface with field-based Molecular Business Managers (Sales), Training Instructional Designers, and the Manager of Global Training and Development. Subject Matter Experts (SME) from various organizations within Luminex will often collaborate with Molecular Applications Specialists on special projects.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Build lasting, high-impact customer relationships within a defined geographic area
* Deliver effective training for new and existing customers on software, instrumentation, maintenance, assay kits and assay design and development for Luminex Products including applications in real time PCR, immunoassay (protein) and nucleic acid detection
* Conduct hands-on technical demonstration and training sessions in a group setting, either in-house or at customer sites in a professional, courteous, and productive format that customers rate highly on performance metrics
* Investigate revenue generating and customer satisfaction opportunities at each account and report back to the Business Manager responsible for account in order to assist in new revenue creation and account retention
* Stay keenly focused on assay “go-live” dates in order to initiate quick revenue generation
* On-site troubleshooting of assay & basic instrumentation issues for efficient resolution of customer complaints
* Perform customer-specific experiments as part of troubleshooting efforts
* Execute laboratory work to prepare assay reagents for training courses
* Participate in the comprehensive Train the Trainer program to gain certification on all Luminex training courses offered by the Training Department
* Maintain knowledge of the latest scientific uses of Luminex technology including current and new products in order to fulfill the needs of Luminex customers
* Actively develop and update instructor-led course content, post-Alpha Training. This includes all course content, laboratory exercises and documentation
* Serve as SME for Instructional Designers during development of Instructor-led and Web-based Training
* Review new product manuals for software, hardware and quick guides
* Generate, update and review Standard Operating Procedure documents, lab documentation, and other applicable documentation as needed to ensure these support delivery of a positively differentiated customer experience
* Communicate with the Business Manager to provide updates on the training before and after delivery
* Attend key tradeshows to assist with customer acquisition, retention, and growth by proliferating Luminex technology and expanded menu adoption
* Complete special projects assigned to further advance departmental objectives and to contribute to Luminex’s growth in a fast-paced environment
* Effectively manage time to perform all duties associated with customers and their needs, while maintaining the internal processes like training certifications.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related field, focus in molecular technologies, or at least 4 years of equivalent experience.
