Cycle Alaska Looking for Bike Mechanic at Juneau, Alaska Full Time

Cycle Alaska is searching for an experienced mechanic to join our team. This position is Full Time Year-Round and starts as early as February 2022. 

Cycle Alaska is a full-service bike shop located downtown in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Juneau is Alaska’s capital and is distributed mainly at sea level and surrounded by 3,000’+ mountains. Most of our surrounding mountains are easily accessible and can be summited in a day.

Juneau is a small town of roughly 30,000 permanent residents. When the cruise ships arrive in late April through mid-October, Cycle Alaska happily offers our guests guided bicycle tours at the Mendenhall Glacier and our ski area, Eaglecrest! On top of this, we offer a wide variety of rentals ranging from urban hybrids to full suspension electric mountain bikes. When available, our rental fleet is at employees’ disposal to explore the city.

Outside of the cruise season, Cycle Alaska sells, services, and rents bikes and has a variety of accessories to meet the needs of our community and those throughout Southeast Alaska.

 An ideal candidate would be confident in their ability to perform most repairs on various bicycle brands and types, familiar with all the bicycle components, comfortable interacting with customers, providing outstanding customer experiences, and upholding our standards of excellence.

Responsibilities would include:

• Assembling bicycles for the sales floor
• Completing work orders in an efficient and timely manner
• Repairing or maintaining rental/tour fleet
• Installing accessories on sold bikes
• Assisting the sales floor when needed
• Communicating with customers about work orders, updating them, and addressing any concerns they may have
• Communicating with department heads with any concerns

Compensation and benefits include:

• Affordable employee housing located in downtown Juneau may be available (May-Sept)
• 40 hours a week, optional overtime if work order demand is high enough

• Wage will be based on one’s experience ($17-$21.25/hr)
