Job/Position Summary
This leadership position is responsible for all procurement functions supporting global business units and operations. Departmental objectives and key priorities are determined in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team as business plans are developed and executed. Subordinate responsibilities include managers, buyers and supplier development engineers at most global locations supporting material cost and vendor deliverables for all Strategic Business Units.
As part of leading the procurement organization, this position, together with the cross-functional leadership team, establishes specific goals and plans for supplier quality, delivery and cost for parts/services and monitors the progress toward achievement of those goals. Standard purchasing practices are used to carry out those goals and track performance toward their achievement. Commodity management skills are necessary for implementation of commodity, supplier and value chain strategies. Required leadership skills will include, but not be limited to, evaluating, and implementing new and innovative ways to purchase goods and services (consignment, supplier-managed inventories, commodity strategies etc.), development of negotiating strategies and supply base rationalization (expansion and reduction) as needed.
