PURPOSE/GOALS
Primary responsibilities are to ensure the optimization of transportation services across all modes for the US Windows Group. A well-rounded candidate will have experience with transportation sourcing, and understand the cost structures of hiring dedicated carriers, contract carriers, and private fleet capacity. Provide continuous improvement by ensuring high service levels and driving costs down through TMS analytics, process streamlining, ongoing new-carrier identification and aggressive rate negotiations. Study and understand transport market rate and capacity trends and cost pressures. This individual will provide Distribution, Warehouse team leadership to ensure that business objectives are met or exceeded for safety, quality, service, productivity, cost, and efficient storage/shipping/handling of finished goods. The position will develop and implement operational supply chain strategies and technology to include process and systems improvements including ERP, DRP, TMS, WMS in logistics, distribution, and warehousing.
A data driven and ongoing review of logistics best practices with recommendations for strategic utilization and optimization. Continuous improvement thinking toward highest quality procurement of transportation services at the least cost and optimal customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation
Full Responsibility for $200M+ freight budget
Constant assessment of supplier performance KPIs. Ensures KPI and monthly metrics support business objectives and are used in the identification of opportunities to drive business improvements.
Conducts regularly scheduled internal and external business performance reviews with suppliers. During these sessions directly addresses any service or performance issues.
Monitors and tracks incidents for trending indications of vendors overall performance.
Develop metrics which demonstrate meeting all transportation needs in support of material procurement and final deliverable shipment of product to the customer.
Ensure US Windows transportation remains in compliance with governmental regulatory requirements associated with the execution of third party and private fleet transportation services.
Ensure all activities and operations are conducted in a safe and legal manner and according to DOT regulations where applicable.
Source and negotiate shipping contracts to maintain our distribution on the most cost- effective basis consistent with a high level of on-time pickups and delivery. Expected to recommend best practices throughout the transportation operation.
Implement contract agreements, including Terms and Conditions, to lock-in favorable prices, guarantee delivery and effect favorable payment terms.
Coordinate with other Supply Chain functions (Sales & Operations Planning, Master Scheduling) to ensure the system dynamics are such that US Windows produces and ships from the sites that result in the least cost scenario on an ongoing basis, providing guidance and direction where resources (capital etc.) can be applied to reduce costs.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the trucking industry to facilitate programs and discussion to keep our shippers on time pickup and deliveries at the highest possible level.
Logistics:
Develops strategic plans to improve productivity, cost, and efficiency within the US Windows loading teams by setting planning activities, objectives, goals and with ultimate alignment of organization around meeting customer and company objectives.
Lead the development of objectives and execution plans that optimizes FG Distribution including driving On-Time/In-Full, best in class product storage and handling, and delivery of high inventory accuracy and low damage results.
Drive supply chain cost and capability initiatives across finished goods
Develop space capacity planning strategies that maximize warehouse utilization, material handling efficiencies, and develop predictive capacity requirements.
Develop and implement operational supply chain strategies and technology to include systems, tools, process improvements in logistics, distribution, and warehousing.
Accountable for adherence to supply chain and cost reduction targets, monitoring progress, increasing supply dependability and flexibility, reviewing schedule, and resolving cross departmental problems.
Develop and foster supplier networks and order fulfillment options by evaluating brokers, suppliers, 3Pls, logistics carriers and cross-functional partners to provide solutions to meet expanding business plans.
Manages and motivates assigned staff. Responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Experience
10+ years of transportation management /logistics and distribution leadership experience
Various Transportation Management System Knowledge
Private & Dedicated Fleet Management
Skills/Abilities
Hands on experience with developing, implementing, and managing complex transportation networks
In depth knowledge of distribution and warehouse functions, work group dynamics, measurement systems (metrics), and continuous process improvement techniques.
Experience utilizing ERP/ DRP / TMS / WMS systems
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Excellent people management skills, including conflict resolution, coaching, and developing others, promoting teamwork and performance management.
Strong decision-making skills and the ability to link business objectives to business activities.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, with a strong sense of urgency.
Demonstrated project integration, planning, communication, and documentation skills to oversee and prepare project team resources requirements in collaboration with cross-functional departments.
Ability to build strong, positive rapport with associates in a team environment; ability to lead through personal example that communicates integrity, core values, and consistency in decision-making.
Ability to implement site standards and best practices to include policies, procedures, and workflow development.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and to manage multiple projects/priorities.
Project/Negotiation/ Contract management skills
