Client OverviewOur client is an Italian lighting manufacturer with a fast growing path in the US market. To assist in their daily operations, we have been hired to assist them in the recruitment of an Area Business Development Manager to support and enhance their market presence in the NY/NJ area.
Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business within your assigned geographical region as defined by the Director of contract sales. This includes building lasting relationships with architects, interior and lighting designers, engineers, contractors, and end users. The BDM also manages the relationship with third party vendors (agents) to generate revenue.
Responsibilities
Developing direct relationships with key influencers in the selection of lighting on projects including but not limited to lighting designers, architects, etc.
Encouraging sales with third-party representatives through product training, sales calls and project follow up, rep shows, and opportunity management.
Pricing for budgetary requests.
Involvement in industry organizations such as IALD, IES, AIA, ASID at a local level.
Involvement with key account and national account activities.
Communicating quarter-over-quarter reports on anticipated project closings and the dollar value and products associated with them.
Manage activities to an annual budget for travel and expenses incurred
Maintain opportunity/project database in CRM.
Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
Understanding of lighting terms, architectural terms, and the ability to read construction drawings and documents preferred
Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements.
BS or BA degree preferred and at least 5 years proven track record in business sales or related markets desired.
Excellent organization skills, with emphasis on timeliness, priorities, and goal setting
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Mac user preferred.
40% local travel and salesforce experience preferred.
Candidate must show proof of US citizenship/visa/alien registration.
