Make money and save it by working in remote Alaska! Coffee Point Seafoods operates two plants on the north shore of the Egegik River, home to one of the most abundant runs of sockeye salmon in Bristol Bay. As our location is remote with the nearest town a 20 minute flight away, we will fly you from the point of hire, house you, and feed you all at no cost to you! We are looking for energetic, adventurous, hardworking people to join our team. Our season starts in early June and runs until the end of July/first week of August.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a conscientious and detail oriented person to support our Office Manager and day to day functions of office activities. Primary tasks will be managing timeclock records, assisting employees with intake paperwork, and receptionist duties. A successful candidate is someone who is self-directed, well organized and comfortable in a diverse working and living environment, and possess good verbal and written communication skills. Some knowledge of Microsoft Office helpful. Previous experience with Paylocity and/or Spanish language skills a plus.
What We Do
In order to keep fishermen fishing, we load their catch directly from fishing boats to landing craft vessels to trucks on the beach and then to the plant. Sockeye are processed within hours of being caught to preserve freshness, flavor, and texture. The Salmon are headed and gutted, graded, sized, individually quick frozen (IQF) and then packed in 50-pound boxes or 1,000 pound totes. We also produce Salted Salmon Roe (Sujiko).
Who We Are
Coffee Point Seafoods (Coffee Point for short) is a wholly owned subsidiary of E&E Foods (which is why our online application is on the E&E Foods website). Coffee Point operates two plants on the north beach of the Egegik River, the Coffee Point plant and the Big Creek plant. During the summer salmon season we employee approximately 300 people; hardworking men and women able to work up to 16-hour shifts.
Hours, Housing, Transportation
At a salmon plant, we work when fish are running, and that means you should expect 12 hour days, 7 days a week, but that means lots of overtime! In addition to that, meals, housing, and transportation to and from the plant (once you finish the season) are free. On the housing side, being remote means that creature comforts are closer to dorm style than a resort hotel, but we do our best to provide comfortable living space for all our workers, and excellent meals and snacks!
