Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented individual who will lead and direct the human resources function for the company’s Indiana Harbor operations in East Chicago, IN. This role provides support and assistance to employees of the company with the goal of providing positive and productive work environment for all employees. In close partnership with the Labor Relations Manager, implements HR and LR initiatives and strategies to ensure alignment with the overall business strategy and proactively drive change that leads to a high performing and positive work environment. Responsibilities: In collaboration with other business leaders, implement the organization’s strategy to establish and maintain positive employee and labor relations Provide advice in the administration of disciplinary actions Serve as subject matter expert for the handling of all HR management issues Coordinate with business leaders to create strategies (e.g., talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning) that allow the organization to meet its talent needs and create an engaged workforce Provide strategies to site business partners to determine root cause of issues/concerns, drive solutions and limit vulnerability risks. Strategically collaborate with site business partners by participating in special projects focused on training and development, process enhancements, organizational development, communication and implementation of policies or other initiatives that affect and/or impact human resource matters Monitor and report out on current HR regulatory changes that may affect the organization Provide functional leadership to others who formally report to another managers The ideal candidate possesses the following attributes: Highly motivated and competitive self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to lead through persuasion and influence in stressful situations Critical thinker who can quickly identify issues and develop creative and strategic solutions Ability to manage in a complex matrix environment and build consensus across internal partners Willingness and ability to motivate, coach, and develop others to drive change that enables maximum efficiency and productivity Ability to compile and analyze business data for purpose of formulating HR/LR strategies Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with years working in a labor relations capacity Supervisory experience (will directly manage staff of five HR Representatives and support staff) Successful track record working in a large, complex organizational structure Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to manage multiple and diverse priorities Demonstrated experience administering collective bargaining agreements including the grievance/issue resolution procedure through arbitration Demonstrated working knowledge federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA Preferred Requirements Progressive human resources/labor relations experience in a leadership role Master’s Degree SHRM-CP/PHR Certification As a company, we are doing what we can to keep all our employees safe and healthy.
