The Utility Asset Management team is responsible for the financial and commercial management of over 5,000 MW of wind, solar and battery assets across the United States. Asset Management also serves as the owner’s representative ensuring budget control, value optimization, and risk mitigation are performed during the entire operational lifecycle of a project.
The Analyst will work closely with the other members of the Asset Management team and a wide range of Clearway departments with a goal of maximizing the value of assets and supporting growth initiatives. The primary focus of this position is to design, implement, and maintain processes and tools that facilitate the commercial management and fiscal oversight of the assigned assets.
What You’ll Be Doing
Due Diligence on New Project Investments:
Support project evaluations, project agreement and contract reviews and due diligence to help make recommendations in support of acquisitions, divestitures and/or investments in company developed projects.
P&L Management:
Provide P&L analysis and economic performance for generating assets within assigned portfolio.
Perform financial analyses, project evaluations, and due diligence to help make recommendations in support of plant optimization, recovery plans, revenue enhancement, and other major capital investments.
Monitor Data Acquisition System and investigate major plant outages and influence resolution.
Review O&M and other plant performance reports to monitor operational performance and address deviations.
Coordinate with O&M to compile monthly operations variance reports, address deviations from budget.
Review project company agreements to accommodate any project modifications.
Update financial models on an ad-hoc and quarterly basis.
Project Company Administration, Compliance & Reporting:
Lead business administration activities and coordinate with cross-functional teams to help ensure asset/landowner obligations and interests are administered under the project and financing agreements.
Support regional commercial and contractual business activities as needed.
Assist in negotiations with PUCs, ISOs, city, county and state authorities and governing boards.
Prepare monthly lost output and guaranteed energy production reports per applicable PPA requirements.
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly lender reports per requirements of financing agreements.
Maintain compliance with contract deliverables and other project documents within assigned portfolio.
Community & Project Stakeholder Engagement:
Form positive relationships with external stakeholders including customers, partners, landowners, etc.
Identify project-related opportunities for charitable giving to foster community goodwill.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelors in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics or related field required
0 to 3 years’ experience in a project valuation, project development, project administration, business administration, project management, asset management, contract administration, deal execution, project finance, energy and environmental market analysis, or other commercial roles.
1-year renewable energy industry experience in solar, wind, geothermal or hydro.
Experience manipulating and managing large amounts of structured and unstructured data. Prior experience with use of advanced formulas in Excel (i.e., vlookup, sumproduct, sumif, index/match, conditional formatting, etc.) and creating reports from scratch.
Experience managing external client relationships.
Experience with regulatory and legal documents to identify commercial opportunities and issues.
Excellent analytical, project management and organizational skills.
Strong business and financial savvy with understanding of accounting, finance, and valuation concepts.
An ability to perform at a high level in a matrixed organization, working in inter-departmental teams to achieve objectives.
Understanding of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Solar Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) monitoring.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to audiences at all levels both internal and external to the company.
Advanced expertise with Microsoft Office Software, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to execute complex formulas, conditional formatting, charts, and graphs in MS Excel.
Demonstrated familiarity with energy markets, and major energy industry players and regulatory bodies.

What Would Be Nice
Understanding of concepts related to renewable portfolio standard (RPS), renewable energy credits (RECs), and other renewable program incentives is preferred.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

$62,000—$86,000 USD
