Position Description
Tacoma Public Utilities is recruiting for an Office Manager to support the Customer Services Manager and their direct report. This position will perform a wide variety of highly difficult, sensitive and confidential administrative support functions to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. The Office Manager is responsible for performing diverse, high-level duties and coordinating a wide variety of work in support of officials of other governmental agencies, regional officials, department heads, business and community organizations, interest groups, the media and the public.
Responsiblities Include
They may assist with contracts and purchasing functions as needed. This position is responsible for independently handling escalated customer complaints, issues, and inquiries, and must determine when management needs to be involved in order to resolve the situation.
Field Tacoma Public Utility Board inquiries, and, occasionally, the City Council.
The successful candidate is one who is collaborative with all levels of an organization; can handle multiple high-level projects with competing priorities and deadlines; and maintain strict confidentiality. They will have the ability to understand and oversee budgets.
Qualifications
Minimum Education*
High School Diploma or GED/Associate’s Degree

6 years including 2 years of prior advanced journey or lead experience

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
