The Phoenix Public Defender’s Office contracts with 80+ attorneys to provide services to indigent individuals charged with criminal misdemeanor charges in Phoenix Municipal Court. This court is among the top ten busiest municipal courts in the United States and handles cases that range from minor traffic violations to Class 1 misdemeanors. Recently, a new specialty court was approved by City Council called the Community Court. This court was created for the current homeless and recently homeless defendants charged with criminal misdemeanors in Phoenix Municipal Court.
The Public Defender’s Office is seeking a Casework Services Coordinator (CSC) to join a team of legal and social work professionals who work to assist some of the most vulnerable residents of the City of Phoenix as they struggle to overcome issues which have led them to experience homelessness. The CSC will assist clients to overcome barriers (such as addiction, behavioral health issues, and other personal barriers) to achieve financial independence, self-sufficiency, dependable and permanent shelter, and an enhanced quality of life. They work together with the other members of the Office of the Public Defender, as well as members of the Prosecutor’s Office, Court employees, and the members of the Office of Homeless Solutions, to assist clients as they navigate the court system and the services offered to the clients.
Primary Responsibilities Include
This position will work primarily in the City of Phoenix Community Court but may be called upon to assist in any of the other functions of the Office of the Public Defender. The work location is at the Phoenix Municipal Court but may occasionally require a trip to the Maricopa County Jails, and community-based legal services events.

SALARY
Pay Range: $72,966.40 to $124,800.00 annually.
Hiring Range: $72,966.40 to $93,121.60 annually.
