Definition:
Oversee practices, activities and meets for the recreational CARA Swim Team. Provides stroke
development for swimmers, facilitates parent interactions, and implements and uses
Swimmingly platform.
Principal Duties:
* Provide positive leadership and mentorship to program participants.
* Plan and implement a variety of workouts and activities for all levels of the program.
* Instruct program participants in proper development of techniques, rules of swimming,
and good sportsmanship with teammates and other competing teams.
* Prepare seasonal plans and goals, to enhance each swimmer’s performance.
* Thorough knowledge of CARA Swimming Bylaws and Rule Book, and adhere to the
CARA swimming philosophy.
* Execute EAP’s as necessary. Handle basic first aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills and
techniques certified and trained in. Complete appropriate paperwork when necessary
and submit to immediate supervisor.
* Plan, prepare, and attend scheduled meetings, trainings, and meets.
* Routinely communicate practice and swim meet information to parents.
* Plan, organize, set-up/tear down, and facilitate home swim meets, including volunteer
recruitment, assign roles, and provide training to ensure comprehension in volunteer
role.
* Maintain and record accurate attendance figures if required.
* Implement skill stacking to develop each swimmers’ technique.
* Use Swimmingly, swim meet software, to add swimmers to meets and record meet
results.
* Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City
Attributes.
Working Environment:
Work is performed indoors in either a natatorium, a gymnasium, or outdoors and involves
exposure to hot and cold temperatures, high humidity, direct sun and/or moderate to loud
background noise. Must be able to work in an environment with poor acoustics and an array of
distractions, including music and weather conditions. Work requires frequent use of fingers and
hands, walking and standing, hearing, speaking, problem solving, math, communication and
customer contact, handling multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, custodial duties,
slippery/uneven surfaces, working alone or working closely with others. Work also includes
light/moderate lifting and carrying (1-49 lb.), bending stooping, kneeling and possibly driving
City vehicle.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. A minimum of two years of competitive swimming experience,
preferably with High School or competitive age group team level. One year of coaching or
previous swim instruction experience preferred. Must have current Concussions Training for
Coaches, and at least one Coaching or Swim Instructor Certification (USA Swimming, Water
Safety Instructor, etc.). American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is strongly desired.
Special
Qualifications: Valid Colorado Driver License.
