Job Summary

This position in the Department of Science and Mathematics Education/STEM Teaching Program is responsible for working collaboratively with other clinical faculty to teach or co-teach STEM education courses, supervise middle and secondary level mathematics and science teaching candidates in the field, develop/maintain K-12 partnerships in the central Washington area for the STEM Teaching Program, and oversee professional development for collaborating mentor teachers. The position will also provide some induction support for STEM Teaching Program graduates. Other responsibilities include creating a campus environment that is welcoming, inclusive and increasingly diverse and service to the department/program. This is a unique FTNTT faculty position that is required by the STEM Teaching Program’s contractual agreement with the UTeach Institute.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to culturally-responsive teaching pedagogies and promoting a diverse and inclusive classroom environment 
• Master’s degree in mathematics, science, science or mathematics education, or related field (i.e., M.S., M.Ed, M.A.T) 
• At least three years of experience in the last ten years teaching mathematics or science in grades 6-12 
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise teacher candidates’ field experiences 
• Demonstrated ability to apply STEM education research based practices in the classroom  
• Possess superior teaching abilities
• Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
• Teaching, research, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU’s commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students and campus communities

Preferred Qualifications  ( Please address these in your cover letter)

• Experience with underrepresented groups in STEM or education fields 
• Teaching certification with endorsement in science, mathematics, or related fields 
• Demonstrated ability to work with school district partners on professional development 
• Experience working in a diverse environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching methods designed for broad student success
• Experience with Project-Based Instruction 
• Experience with induction programs 
• A record of promoting inclusivity in classrooms and academic work environments

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: $61,740 – $68,600, Commensurate with education and experience

Appointment: Full time, non-tenure track, 10-month Appointment. Additional Summer work may be available.
