Centra Healthworks is seeking a full-time experienced NP/PA to work 40 hours/week at its new Danville, VA location.  Monday-Friday, day shift work schedule. No nights, holidays, weekends. 

Will also consider candidates interested in working Part-time and PRN

DUTIES:

 

Under the direction of the Medical Director of HealthWorks, perform a wide variety of duties both within and in support of the Occupational Health service lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Assess the health status of employees by obtaining health histories, performing physical examinations, post-injury examinations, establishing treatment plans, writing prescriptions, and completing electronic health record and/or paper medical record documentation on time as required.

 

1. Perform various specialized examinations (e.g., return-to-work examinations, DOT CDL examinations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and tonometric screenings).

 

1. Coordinate all activities pertaining to both pre-placement and annual fit-for-duty examinations, working in cooperation with occupational health physician, clinicians, operational leadership, applicable Human Resources employees and client company personnel. Perform the monitoring of additional requested screenings (e.g., pulmonary function tests, drug screens and interpretation of results with appropriate follow up of all abnormal findings).

 

1. Assess and refer any employee health problems to applicable specialty health care and related resources both within and outside the facility.

 

1. Work in conjunction with Medical Director of HealthWorks and/or designated physicians, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining regulatory compliance of the Occupational Health service lines including, but not limited to:

 

1. Maintaining a current working knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards and requirements;
2. Maintaining a current working knowledge of Virginia OSHA (VA OSHA), Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (VA DOLI), and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) standards and requirements;
3. Establishing personal contacts with both contracted and non-contracted area companies and industries to familiarize them with Occupational Health service lines;
4. Serving as a liaison and resource person between applicable area companies;
5. Maintaining an accurate, professional, and confidential medical record system;
6. Consulting with area client companies in evaluating and recommending various preventive medical and educational programs pertinent to their employee needs; and
7. Providing the follow-through to problems and inquiries of client area companies.

 

1. Work in cooperation with the Infection Prevention and Employee Care Services departments regarding reporting, surveying, screening, and, as appropriate, implementing programs pertaining to prevention or spread of infectious disease. Carry out and coordinate a variety of health care prevention measures for employees including screening programs, immunizations, skin tests, flu vaccinations, etc. in cooperation with Occupational Health physicians.

 

1. Perform outpatient office minor procedures to include suturing, joint aspiration or injection, incision and drainage, wound packing and care, splinting, and bracing.

 

1. As necessary, assist to compile, prepare, and present monthly/annual statistics and reports within the areas of position responsibilities to Medical Director, HealthWorks.  As necessary, assist in developing and revising policies related to Occupational Health.

 

1. Attend meetings, discussions, conferences, seminars, and workshops as applicable to position responsibilities.

 

1. Protect the confidentiality of information within areas of position responsibilities by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing.

 

1. Promote a continuous effort in quality improvement, enhancing the services provided to patients, their families, physicians, and staff members by demonstrating positive attitudes and positive actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, sensitivity, and professionalism.  Support and promote Centra’s Strategic Vision, Just Cause and Values.

 

1. Observe all health and safety requirement

 

1. Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.

 

1. Willingness and flexibility to be assigned for duties outside of and/or in addition to primary work location (e.g., site clinics, employer clinics, etc.).

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Certification from national accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.  This certification must be in a primary care field of medicine (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine). 

EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years of clinical practice experience as a graduated APP is required.  Occupational Medicine experience is highly desired.
