Cabot Corporation is seeking a NA Transportation Manager, Logistics & Packaging to join the logistics team at one of the following Cabot office locations: Alpharetta, GA, Billerica or Boston, MA.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys handling the entire procurement and logistic lifecycle across all modes of transportation, developing strategy, warehouse management, collaborating with a global team and can demonstrate customer-centric communication to successfully deliver results.
The NA Transportation Manager is in charge of all source to contract activities within the logistics and packaging space for the North America region and an ~$100M spend across all company modes of transportation. This role also provides strategic and tactical logistics & packaging services to all business segments including support for the operations and develops strategic sourcing initiatives in close alignment with the Business and the Global Logistics & Packaging Director.
In addition, this role is in charge to establish and further develop best in class supplier performance management, including supplier life cycle management and supplier quality assessment. The regional manager shall also provide regular market intelligence to internal stakeholders and is the Center of Excellence (CoE) and subject matter expert for all logistics & packaging aspects. Engages with Business to meet customer needs, provides innovation & digitalization process improvements on top of cost savings and supporting the companies Sustainability targets. This role has full budget and supplier management responsibility.
This role can be based at one of the following Cabot offices: Alpharetta, GA, Billerica or Boston, MA and is eligible to participate in Cabot’s Flexible Working Arrangement/hybrid program.
How You Will Make an Impact
Supplier Selection & Performance Management:
RFQ/RFP/RFI Management Responsibility
Supplier Selection responsibility for Logistics & Packaging Category in the region
Ensures high visibility of the Supplier performance and optimized selection process based on quality, efficiency, service and cost.
Ensures a best in class Supplier Performance Management (KPI’s), Quality of SLA’s (Service level agreements) and Scorecards are in place for all critical suppliers.
In charge for strategic & tactical Supplier Life Cycle Management
Leads supplier performance reviews including salesforce case reviews.
Cost & Volume Management
External 3rd Party Warehouse & Distribution Centre Management (Strategic, Tactical, Commercial and Quality)
Process Improvements, Innovation, Digitalization & Trade Compliance:
Implements and manages business and service plans for the region. Works with senior management and other internal and external customers to ensure satisfactory and efficient services for all logistics activities.
In charge to drive innovation in the category space. Develops best in class Transportation Management Systems and EDI Solutions, drives Digitalization initiatives such as paperless transportation processes, touchless PO’s for packaging and continuous improvements.
Ensures close alignment with Suppliers & Manufacturing to develop innovative packaging solutions.
Participates in the review of processes, procedures and standards. Ensures performance meets or exceeds standards and goals. Proposes improvements to existing methods to enhance quality, efficiency, reliability, innovation and continuity of service.
Participates in monthly S&OP Calls and Quality Board Meetings to share market intelligence, continuously improve the supplier performance and enhance the business needs & expectations.
Ensures that all activities are managed in compliance with local, regional and global trade regulations and acts as CoE for Trade Compliance related matters in the region
Operations & Business Support:
Provides leadership and resolution to escalated service problems coming from Business Service Centers, Operations Teams, Sales or Business Leaders. Manages Root Cause Analysis and drives actively corrective actions with Suppliers and aligns with Stakeholders on updates made in Salesforce.
Brings rail, bulk, export & trucking expertise in form of market intelligence to the organization and is considered the go-to person
Develops and maintains excellent business relationships with internal & external parties, which may include customers, third-party service providers, vendors as well as internal groups. Is actively involved in customer and sales meetings.
Financial Requirements:
Achieves savings, following the Procurement Policies and ensures on-time reporting in Coupa System
Manages category budgets; oversees category data and related costs
Manages the travel & expense budget.

Policies & Compliance Management:
Ensures compliance with policies, procedures including safety, internal control, Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and ISO 9000 standards.
Manages the review of the harmonized tariff codes.
Provides support to the Business for the review of Free Trade Agreements and the set-up of the approved exporter / AEO status of Production Sites.
Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Logistics or Category related discipline
Minimum 5+ years of procurement and logistics experience
Excellent Logistics expertise. Strong background in logistics operations, strategic & tactical activities, supplier performance management as well as good experience in RFQ & Project management.
Industry experience in freight, rail, trucking, shipping or manufacturing
Familiar with international procedures and methods
Solid proficiency in ERP and Material Requirement Planning systems (SAP, Coupa and TMS preferred)
Experience with warehouse managing activities (managing contracts, insourcing, outsourcing, etc) is preferred
Packaging experience is highly preferred
Business management skills and category expertise

Strong Leadership and communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate team members
Strong inter-personal skills in order to communicate and interact with customers and internal groups
