Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Neuroscience Program Coordinator will be responsible for growth and development of neuroscience patient care. The Program Coordinator plans, organizes, implements, educates, performs community outreach, standardization, optimizing processes, and relationships building for various programs such as: regional mobile stroke program, telestroke, community paramedics, local hospital emergency department and operating room teams housing neuroscience patients, local hospital inpatient rehab, and local hospital leaders that have integral parts in the acute care setting (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, palliative care, SNF, long term acute care hospitals (LTACH), and home care).
Essential Job Functions
Coordinates program growth and development by researching, benchmarking, piloting, process improvement, data analyzing, relationship building, sharing, teaching, building, documenting, and accrediting.
Manages all neuroscience community education activities internally and within the community,
Facilitates education activities for physicians, nursing, emergency medical services, and ancillary departments involved in neuroscience patient care.
Collaborates with the Stroke Program’s Medical Director and Co-Chairs the Stroke Committee.
Motivates associates to participate in activities that benefit the community.
Maintains a current working knowledge of neuroscience patient care and works with nursing leadership to maintain quality levels of neuro/stroke care.
Under the guidance of quality and leadership, coordinates all stroke specific survey or accreditation efforts.

Licensing/Certification
Current RN License in the state in which they are working or covered by compact (required)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required)
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration or Nursing (preferred)
Work Experience
5 years’ experience in Neuroscience, Emergency, or Critical Care nursing (required)
2 years’ experience in patient care management or supervision (preferred)

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
