Charge Entry Specialist

Biospine Institute is seeking an experienced Charge Entry Specialist for our Tampa Location. This position is a vital part of our team and is responsible for ensuring government and commercial payers receive complete and accurate billing based on the services we provide. The Charge Entry Specialist will be responsible for compiling billing information, assisting with coding, and ensuring all charges are posted accurately and timely.

Charge Entry Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· receives and reviews charge documents for accuracy and coordinates with appropriate staff on all billing issues

· enters charges into practice management system

· reviews and corrects insurance sequences for primary, secondary and tertiary payers

· extracts information from medical records and progress notes to ensure completeness and accuracy

· assists with identifying quality control issues

· runs report to capture all unbilled transactions

· works with multiple clearinghouses to reduce paper submissions

The ideal candidate for this position would possess:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· prefer NextGen Practice Management system experience

· minimum of 3 years of coding, billing, and/or charge entry experience in the healthcare field is required

· ability to critically analyze erroneous data and escalate to supervisory staff is required, analyzing and reporting trends

· knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and diagnosis codes is required

· Associates Degree in healthcare administration is preferred

· coding certification from an accredited institution is preferred
