BBSI Looking for Immunochemist/Research Tech 3 at Boston, MA  Full Time

The job will involve:

• Planning and execution of all aspects of histological and immunohistochemical analysis of tissues, constructs, cell-laden materials and materials.
• Expertise in operation and knowledge of maintenance of equipment, facilities and consumables (plastic-ware, tools, chemicals, antibodies, detection reagents, etc.) related to histology and immunochemistry including tissue processor, microtome, cryotome, slide warmers/dryers, dry-ice and liquid nitrogen stores.
• Fixation and/or processing of samples by paraffin or cryo-embedding for the purposes of histological and immunohistochemical evaluations
• Performance of histological staining and analysis including Hematoxylin and Eosin, Safranin O/Fast Green, Alcian Blue/Alizarin Red, Van Kossa’s Staining, Picosirious Red stainging Masson’s Trichrome, RGB staining, and SA-betaGal staining
• Performance of immunohistolchemical staining for colorimetric and immunofluorescence analysis for bone, cartilage, endothelial and progenitor cell localization and evaluation
• Microscopy and photo-documentation of histological and immunohistochemical staining. Microscopy by bright-field, phase, fluorescence and polarized microscopy are necessary skills and will be performed on processed samples.
• Assay development and SOP establishment for all assays
• Provides training, and mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.
• Investigates and evaluates existing technologies relevant to histology and immunochemistry of musculoskeletal tissues (bone, cartilage, et al.)

Ph.D or M.S.

2-5 years experience

• MS (Bio. Eng.)
• Proven (published) experience in listed histological and immunohistochemical techniques in bone and cartilage research (whether in vivo or in vitro)
• Proficiency in microscopy and routine microscope maintenance.
• Ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) appropriate for the experiments being performed, including BSL2 printing conditions.
• Ability to lift/move 50 pounds.
• Computer skills including the ability to utilize common applications (e.g., email, Word, Excel), Cell and slide imaging software such as CelSens, Imaris, AIVIA, Zen or equivalent), Image J (or equivalent in proprietary software of microscope suppliers) and applicable macros for histomorphometry
