Atkore is currently searching for a Transportation/Logistics Manager for the Plastic Pipe and Conduit Strategic Business Unit. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Logistics, this role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics operations such as warehousing, inventory, transportation, and supply chain processes across all Plastic Pipe and Conduit manufacturing facilities and regional distribution centers. They will also be accountable for shipping processes and support simplification and standardization of processes to accelerate Logistics and enhance efficiencies.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain or relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a similar role. Prior success as a Logistics or Shipping Manager or equivalent position at Atkore International and experience in lean manufacturing is a plus.
Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Evaluate the efficiency of Logistics and Shipping procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
Identify enhancement opportunities and suggest solutions for improvement to top management
Translate business requirements into effective technical systems solutions by presenting options based on best practices
Identify new carrier opportunities at all 9 manufacturing facilities
Negotiate with current and new carriers to improve rates and service
Resolve shipping disputes between Atkore customers and carriers
Train plants in the use of Transportation Management System (TMS) and optimizing cost and efficiency
Ensure the execution of standard work in TMS across all 9 manufacturing facilities
Initiate Logistics productivity and cost out projects
Produce user documentation for applications standard work and training.
Construct and monitor transportation reporting metrics through Tableau
Conduct cost analyses of transportation companies to select the best option; that is cost-efficient and able to handle the shipment load
Drive cost reduction through supply chain route optimization, mode conversion, and other means.
Maintain communications with carriers, suppliers, warehouses, custom brokers and others involved in the shipping and delivery of our product offerings
Develop and initiate monthly reports having required project timelines, corporate metrics and productivity measurements
Maintain KPI metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements within Logistics and Shipping Departments across all nine of the facilities

Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or relevant field preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Logistics/Shipping role. Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software
Experience working with a distribution/manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Strong business knowledge of Transportation Management System (TMS) and/or JDE processes.
Good decision-making skills to be able to consider the relative cost and benefits of potential actions to decide on the best one
Excellent communication skill (both written and verbal) to effectively negotiate with carriers, suppliers, custom brokers, and customers
Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance that are relative to the goals of the system
Capability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solution
Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
Must have the capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding analytical, problem solving, and organizational abilities required
