Logistics Transportation Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Successful candidate will be responsible for driving and maintaining economical and efficient Logistics solutions for AG, its customers and associates. This role includes supporting and/or leading the negotiation of routing of outbound and inbound shipments, international transportation, service review and liaison with Sales Management, budgeting, interplant transportation, private fleet administration, outside warehousing, household goods movement and pricing, outside associations and oversight of Receiving, Shipping, and Warehousing,and Samples Departments in Afton. Provide input and support for driving improvement in costs related to Freight and Departmental expenses.

Will have significant contributory role in driving compliance with all applicable regulations for domestic and international transportation activities. Supports the development of operating plans and provides analysis related to costs for domestic and international freight movements. Will also research new technologies and processes for Logistics functions, perform feasibility and cost justification analysis studies to implement best practice supply chain practices. Must be willing and flexible to travel – domestic and potentially international. In addition, the selected candidate may be provided developmental assignments in AG’s manufacturing & distribution plants to facilitate a comprehensive working know how of AG’s supply chain operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Data engineer (pivot tables, etc.). Suggest and/or develop/implement systems solutions to reduce manual data manipulation.

• Continuously drive improvement in people and processes.

• Anticipate issues and drive solutions in advance through systematic analysis of data.

• Ability to see and understand problems and how to stratify and eliminate waste and losses.

• Ability to assess facts quickly, take appropriate action and avoid unnecessary delays.

• Provide stable and energetic leadership at all times especially in the face of adversity.

• Ability to maintain the energy of a crisis in the face of success and instill an appropriate sense of urgency in all associates at all times.

• Ability to synthesize overall company objectives into meaningful operating objectives to ensure tactical alignment.

• Thorough understanding of Just-In-Time and Lean Logistics principles and logic to enable efficient elimination of waste.

• Ability to assess knowledge and skill gaps amongst any direct reports to ensure they have the correct know how to effectively lead people and achieve objectives.

• Demonstrate expertise in transportation and industry best practices

• Other duties and/or project activity as required.
