Job Description
Under general supervision of the Department Lead, participates as a member of the overall Press Team in the preparation of inks, solvents, and varnish to customer specifications, filling and replenishing supplies.
Responsibilities:
v According to Company policies and procedures, prepares production equipment such as dispensing ink, varnish, solvents and ink pumps. Verifies if solvents are sufficient. Assembles pumps to specifications and identify drum covers according to press unit, color and ink number. Keep all pumps in good condition.
v Mix inks and solvents to specifications, filling and replenishing supplies as required.
Replenish and adjust ink supply to press. Maintain consistency in color and viscosity.
v Responsible for maintaining inventory of consignment and work-off inks completing all necessary paperwork to ensure able supplies.
v Ensure ink viscosity by correctly timing flow from test cup according to standard. Observe performance of ink and give feedback to appropriate personnel.
v Weighs and measures, according to formula, components for correct color pigment. Prepares new batches when necessary.
v Assist Press Crew when required.
v Ensure all required paperwork is processed in a timely and efficient manner.
v Responsible for cleanup of ink dispensing equipment and general housekeeping under 5S+S rules of all work areas. Performs all tasks in accordance with safe work practices. Follows all PPE according to Company requirements.
v Support all 9001-2000 standards and Quality Objectives.
v Understand OHSE requirements and regulations, actively support the policy and implement the guiding principles in every day activities.
v Performs all other duties as may be required.
Requirements:
v High School diploma or G.E.D.
v Two (2) years experience in a printing/packaging environment.
v Knowledge of inks, computers skills, color matching, and use of ink dispensing equipment is essential.
Physical Demands:
v The ability to lift up to 40 lbs is required.
v This position may require prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking.
v Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required.
v Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
v Must be able to rotate shifts as required and be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.
