Job summary
Amazon Transportation Operations Management (TOM) is seeking a Regional Transportation Engineer to help develop a world-class logistics process that delivers goods on time at the lowest cost. Our team objective is to manage all Dock door to Dock door (D2D) flow in the first mile and middle mile space to improve speed while delivering on time performance. Amazon’s worldwide transportation network includes all movements between our network nodes, including fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations and returns centers. Tactical responsibilities include (but are not limited to) working with Fulfillment Center (FC) management, local carrier hubs, and other Amazon transportation and supply chain functions and help critical customer partners on how to best use Amazon transportation services. This role will be very analytical, focusing on transportation cost reduction and transit time improvements.
Key job responsibilities
Partner with tech teams globally and drive direction of building new technology and new process for improving package deliveries across Amazon’s network in multiple regions Improve D2D delivery estimate accuracy (DEA) by working with all stakeholders in the transportations and operations network Use Simulation and remote management tools to drive efficiency in yard, guard shack and hostler operations Travel to field locations to support TOM yards, projects and support building launches Strategic alignment with internal stakeholders and carriers in short term as well as long term planning cycles Understand process requirements and clearly define optimal process with direction of how we achieve and sustain optimal process Travel will be approximately 25-50% regional and 10% national
Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business Management, Engineering, transportation, supply chain, logistics or related field 4+ years of applicable, professional experience in Transportation or other carrier-based experience Experience working in distribution center/fulfillment center operations utilizing lean principles
Master’s in Engineering or other Masters disciplines Experience delivering broadly adopted technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift fast Intermediate experience with SQL, Tableau, MS Excel, Access and SharePoint Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma certifications
