This is a full-time, paid position. We’re looking for a lead tour guide for spring, summer and fall dog sledding tours, and the right candidate to potentially stay on for the winter. This is a unique position to learn from a champion racing kennel and also make money while guiding tours. The selected candidate will live on-site in their own private house on the property with running water and electricity.
We’re located in beautiful Willow, Alaska, at the base of Hatcher Pass, a mountain gold mining district that has become a popular destination for hiking and berry picking in the summer, as well as a variety of winter recreational activities. Our kennel sits on 75 acres of private land, just a short drive from Anchorage, Denali, and several other popular tourist destinations.
Our dogs are members of our family, so we’re looking for a team member that respects and treats animals with the utmost care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to driving (mushing) dog teams daily for tours, all daily chores, feeding/watering the dogs, scooping the yard throughout the day, brushing the dogs, fixing broken equipment such as dog houses, fencing, leashes, building dog houses, and other small construction projects, taking dogs and puppies on walks, and working with the dogs daily in harness.
We can teach the right candidate how to become a successful dog musher. We’re looking for a clean, respectful, non-smoking, well-spoken professional to join our team and help share the joy of Alaska’s official state sport!
