Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for the position of a Senior Process Engineer in the Process Engineering group of our Process Gases Product Line Department our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania or Houston, Texas.
Air Products is a world leader in gas separation and purification. We have enjoyed a long and successful history developing and implementing technologies for complex gas synthesis, separation, purification, and liquefaction using a variety of techniques, including steam methane reforming, gasification, autothermal reforming, ammonia, CO2 capture, hydrocarbon cryogenic distillation, hydrogen and helium liquefiers, etc.
The Process Gases Product Line (PGPL) is responsible for opportunity development, pre-engineering and process design packages. The Process Technology group within PGPL supports leading technical development of the most appropriate technologies, design the process cycles, develop flowsheets, and support in development of capital and operating cost for proposals. Our work is an important factor contributing to winning bids which eventually lead to executed projects.
The Senior Process Engineer is an experienced individual contributor role. The Process Engineer is a key member of a project team and is responsible for driving the work process with a multi-disciplined project team to develop the Process Flow Diagram, complete simulations of the appropriate technologies, engage with licensers, and develop critical process deliverables such as equipment specs and power, utility, and plant performance summary. The successful candidate needs to have strong chemical engineering fundamentals and excellent process engineering skills. The person also needs to be comfortable with ambiguity and complexity. The successful candidate will be comfortable with or have appropriate previous background in PFD development, Aspen simulation, process engineering, operations, and process safety. They should be conscientious, detail-oriented, and effective problem solvers. Finally, we are looking for energetic people with a positive attitude, a strong initiative, a sense of project ownership with the ability to multi-task and independently manage multiple proposals.
