This position supports the Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions business within the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment of The Walt Disney Company featuring destination travel experiences in the US and throughout the world; including, owned and operated excursions, licensing arrangements with third party tour operators and expedition carriers, charters, and private jet trips. As such, the successful candidate must be comfortable with handling diverse legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, and have the judgment to know when to elevate issues to senior attorneys in the department and legal subject matter experts. The successful candidate must also be adept at briefing non-legal colleagues on complex legal issues.
We are looking for a candidate who reflects the innovative spirit and creative talent that defines the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment—the segment that brings the magic of The Walt Disney Company’s powerful brands and franchises—including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, ESPN, Twentieth Century Studios and National Geographic—into the daily lives of families and fans around the world to create magical memories that last a lifetime.
Responsibilities :

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial and other contracts, including tour operator, co-branded partnership, service, talent, license, sales, and marketing agreements.
• Advise business with respect to legal and regulatory compliance (DOT, marketing, pricing, sweepstakes, terms and conditions, waivers and releases).
• Identify legal and operational risks and coordinate with subject-matter experts within Disney (e.g., privacy, employment, tax, intellectual property, technology, and ADA) to address issues arising from travel services or agreements and new product or event types to ensure compliance with Company policies and legal requirements.
• Provide creative solutions to complex business and legal issues, across a variety of subject matters, scenarios, and alternatives, and assist the head of the legal team to assess options and risks.
• Perform such other responsibilities as may be deemed necessary in support of Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions.

Basic Qualifications :

• An attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience in-house or at a law firm, with significant experience in commercial transactions, and legal and regulatory compliance
• Excellent negotiation, contract drafting, and written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate concepts and issues effectively with all levels of management
• Self-motivated and team-oriented
• Ability to work independently, with some supervision, on projects and assignments
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk, to advise various business units of the risks, and to exercise sound legal judgment
• Proven client relationship skills and outstanding interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a solution oriented approach to legal issues
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and track and see legal issues and new initiatives through to completion
• Understanding of the travel industry
• Demonstrated capacity to stay abreast of relevant, emerging trends in the law

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with privacy, marketing, intellectual property, social media, and governmental/regulatory law is a plus

Required Education :

• JD or equivalent
• Strong academic credentials
• Admission to D.C. Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel
